Makaya McCraven performing at Pickathon 2019 Todd Cooper
Happy Halloween, faithful readers and music lovers. In addition to pumpkin-spiced everything, the holidays, and general coziness, the time has come yet again for another edition of our Pickathon Starlight series, featuring top-notch video footage of some of the stand-out, late-night performances from Pickathon 2019.
The first episode is an instrumental performance by drummer/producer Makaya McCraven, who made his Pickathon debut last summer. The sax-forward performance of “Above and Beyond” (from McCraven’s 2017 project Highly Rare) is eight minutes long and a powerful example of McCraven’s lively, multi-faceted live sets.
