FRIDAY 9/10

LICK!

Oh, tongue-rich and most dykelightful thing! Lick is a mostly-monthly event that’s designed by the queerish gaydies specifically for the queerish gaydies, mostly. (I like to think of it as Comeback, but with mysterious vagina.) And PLUS! It always features the spinny effervescence of resident DJ Mathematix, who is, if I might quote myself (and I might… I MIGHT!), “Seattle’s (if not the whole friggin’ WORLD’s!) most prolific and adorable FTM DJ!” And that’s some serious cred right there, gurl. Werd. Ironically, also featuring MEN (JD of Le Tigre). Chop Suey, 9 pm, $5, 21+.

WEDNESDAY 9/15

SCISSOR ME TIMBERS!

EEEK! No, really, I totally mean it. EEEEEK!!! SCISSOR SISTERS! I do love me them flaming freaks, ever so. You do too, naturally. And it’s been so long! (Where have these fags been hiding?) A terrible lie: The lead singer once lived in Dan Savage’s basement. For, um, unknown reasons, and for an extended period of time. (SOMEbody denies it all, of course. Huh. Who keeps spreading these RUMORS?!) Anyhoo: Their visit is part of the massive tour for their new album, Night Work. A terrible truth: Showbox Sodo is WAY too small for this great huge big gay event. (These girlz have packed out the Paramount. Showbox Sodo? So they have the same clueless manager who sent Gaga to Tacoma, I’m guessing?) Showbox Sodo, 8 pm, $30 adv/$33 DOS, 21+.

BAD POEMS/COOL DRINKS/PURRING!

Another new thing for, yes, GAYDIES! (God, I love that word.) A note from Becky, your host: “Adrian, I am starting a new happy hour at Purr called Kitty Klub that is geared toward the ‘gaydies’ (as you call them) but open to all queers. It is sponsored by Hot Flash (first and third Saturday of every month at Neighbours) and held in the upstairs lounge at Purr.” But wait! There’s MORE! “Prowl the scene, in a bar that’s clean, meet Queers of all kinds, and folks with open minds, raise a glass, have a laugh, at Kitty Klub, upstairs in Purr.” Well, okay. Big points for using “gaydies” in a sentence, Becky, but… poems? No, please! Purr, 7:30–9:30 pm, free, 21+.
