THURSDAY 10/14
EXPERIENCE A GOODMANN
“Embracing both high and low art” is truly the raison d’être of the drag queen (big emphasis on the “low”), and a slightly lesser element of all cabaret and boylesque in general. (Don’t argue!) The Anita Goodmann Experience culls the talents of performance artists and
theater improv-ers and mashes them all up into an evening of fresh hilariousness. Featuring Andrew McMasters, Adina Gillett, Mandy Price, Miss Madisun Avenue, and even (Not the Real) Justin Bieber! FAKE SCREAM! Rendezvous, 8:30 pm, $10, 21+.
FRIDAY 10/15
SLGFF OPENING NIGHT GALA
(AND, UGH, A MOVIE)
They actually force you to sit through a goddamn MOVIE in order to get into the party, which is just fucking cruel. (The film is called BearCity and features things like “wannabe cubs” and, um, “twinks.” Deeply. Unfortunate.) But very few of life’s things are as much sloppy gay fun as the Seattle Lesbian & Gay Film Festival opening-night party, and with DJ Skiddle spinning for you, it will be worth chewing through all that furry cliché. I swear. (And who the hell attends film festivals for the movies, anyhow? I ask you.) Film at Egyptian Theatre, 7:30 pm, gala at Neumos, $30, 21+.
EIGHTEEN INDIVIDUAL EYES
Four amazing queer girls who make music that isn’t necessarily queer—just amazing. (Sample at www.eighteen individualeyes.com.) With Bone Cave Ballet, Armed with Legs, and Case and Ctrl. Josephine, 9 pm.
SATURDAY 10/16
RED DRESS PARTY
And, again! This completely debauched annual tradition returns to drape our world in red. With DJ Brian Gorr, Shokra, and the eternal hostess Gaysha Starr. Fremont Studios, 155 N 35th St, 8 pm, $40 adv/$50 DOS, 21+.
HOT PINK PARTY
Prettier in pink? Maybe red hurts your eyes? Whatever. Here’s another option: kicking it in PINK with burlesque stars from around the globe! Hosted by Burlycon, with DJs Nark, Ramiro, and Michael Holden. Wear PINK! Cirque Event Center, 131 Taylor Ave, 9 pm, $15, 21+.
