PUCKER UP
So then. Last week! I scolded one or two of your silly gay butts for being mean to straight people at gay events. Remember? (Scold, scold, SCOLD!) Well, I’ve already forgiven you, of course. But!
Apropos of all that, our favorite little DJ/photographer/nightlife-producing nonpareil Nark would please like you to note: “Lip Service is a creative mixer for all genders, preferences, and pleasures, a place to be seen and meet people instead of a place to go, and certainly somewhere to be yourself, whether that’s casual or over-the-top.” It’s a newish once-a-month gig, and this month features DJ Johnny Fever from See Sound Lounge. Baltic Room,
9 pm, $7/$5 with RSVP to superthreatpresents@gmail.com, 21+.
CANDY, WITH PORQ FLAVOR
The indie-electro storm front of love that is Glass Candy blows back into town from gay old Portland tonight. I never miss Glass Candy: The voice of Ida No is like a jeweled ostrich plume tickling the spinal cord; the hypnotic thrum of what Johnny Jewel does (sometimes synth, sometimes guitar, sometimes other things) will put you in a warm, delicious trance. A Glass Candy show is always a good value—and tonight, the combined powers of Chromatics, Desire, and DJs Porq and Jodi Bon Jodi make it damn near priceless. Chop Suey, 9 pm, $10 adv/$12 DOS, 21+.
PEE-WEE AND ME
PAGING MR. HERMAN! Indeed! Pee-Wee’s Big Adventure, as you surely know, is my first, third, and one-hundred-
and-seventeenth favorite movie of all. Fricking. Time! And tonight (OMGz!), Central Cinema brings you a rare big-screening of the fabulous thing hosted by… um… ME! Adrian Ryan! I’m kicking off Central Cinema’s new “My Favorite Movie” with this red-bow-tied classic-for-the-ages. We are going to laugh! We are going to eat things! Also, drink! (Please, somebody, help, I have a problem!) And finally get a chance to talk about YOUR big “but.” (Go ahead and scream your head off! We’re miles from where anyone can hear you!) Central Cinema, 7 pm,
$6 adv/$8 DOS, all ages. ![]()
