(Triple Door) Your favorite dulcet-voiced anti-diva from Argentina is back in town. After a few very good albums of lovely, understated folktronica, Juana Molinaโwho also plays guitar and keyboardsโmoved into a more rhythmic, texturally strange, and extroverted style with 2008โs Un Dรญa and 2013โs Wed 21. Her honey-dipped Spanish vocals remain as delightful and feathery as ever, but now they spread creamily over the artfully jagged sonic terrain more like mid-period Four Tet than the pretty yet reticent electronic mantras of her earlier efforts. Molinaโs burst out of her shell and the results are muy picante. DAVE SEGAL

THE LONG-AWAITED RETURN OF HARDCORE HEROES CIRCLE TAKES THE SQUARE
(Vera) It only took one album, 2004โs As the Roots Undo, for Savannah, Georgiaโs Circle Takes the Square to garner a cult following so strong that their fans wouldnโt mind waiting eight years to finally hear new material. And 2012โs Decompositions: Volume Number One was worth the wait. It has everything a hardcore music fan could want from a recordโchanting, piercing guitar riffs, intricate, Fugazi-esque percussion, brutal vocal freak-outs that warn you of inevitable demise and, for the vinyl collectors, itโs all packaged in a gorgeous double-LP gatefold printed with metallic ink. Since the band has the bad habit of hibernating for long periods of time, do not miss this rare opportunity to see them live, especially since theyโre paired with stellar, very loud local bands Mercy Ties and Gladiators Eat Fire.
