When experienced gynecologist William Masters met young psychologist
Virginia Johnson in 1957, the world of sexual studies was changed
forever. Masters and Johnson revolutionized the medical world’s grasp
on sexual response by observing hundreds of sexy encounters of
all types in their St. Louis laboratory, publishing their findings in a
series of best-selling books about human sexuality.

High-school-age Issaquah trio Masters and Johnson, on the
other hand, play short, technical punk-pop numbers driven by impressive
singer and budding guitar guru Neil Gregerson. And while the young
musicians make music well beyond their yearsโ€”songs that build,
transform, and explode before abruptly endingโ€”their lyrics about
the family dog or innocent trips to the store inspire no sexy feelings
at all. The youngest members of the trio aren’t old enough to attend
Club Pop, Seattle’s naughtiest semi-all-ages dance night (it’s
18-plus), where they’ll take the stage this Thursday, and their sound
might clash with the night’s usual bumping and grinding. But
maybe, like their namesake scientists, this young band will take some
notes and make their observations known in future songs. recommended
