Weather For The Blind is streaming a sound installation which is, FATHOM, brought to us by none other than the mighty Quintron! I’m kinda nerding out over this, y’all, almost as much as I did when I first heard there was a turntable which converted tree rings into sound!
Weather for the blind is a live streaming site of a musical instrument which is played by the weather. The base station is called Weather Warlock and is located in New Orleans, Louisiana.
This site is called “weather for the blind” in reference to a circadian rhythm sleep disorder suffered by many sight-impaired persons. Our hope is that this instrument could be of some help to those experiencing any type of sleep disorder or to anyone suffering from stress or health issues which might benefit from a direct musical connection to nature.
The synth, or the Weather Warlock as it’s called, is wired to an array of environmental sensors and, as local conditions change, so do the tones. Does this kinda seem like a ’70s thing to do, it feels of the New Age as it’s meant to connect one’s well-being? Anyways, the stream is only on during daylight hours, so if you hafta creep the archives they’re at the bottom – click here to experience a STORM.
