Wild Flag’s self-titled debut is terrific, a “supergroup” record with something to prove. But the ultimate point of that creation is to fuel the Wild Flag live show, where Sleater-Kinney alums Carrie Brownstein and Janet Weiss are joined by Helium’s Mary Timony and the Minders’ Rebecca Cole to rock the fuck out. Reports from early tour stops crow about the band’s explosive chemistry and fondness for classic punk covers (Ramones’ “Judy Is a Punk,” Television’s “See No Evil”!).
