  1. It’s all part of the master plan, I tell ya. Once Obamacare bankrupts all the insurance companies, there will be no choice but to have a public option.

  2. On the (Spokane) Spokesman-Review’s website, the comments are saying things like “this forces the insurance companies to drive up rates – it must be stopped!” and “Is he going to force gun dealers to sell to kids too?”

P.S. I already like the new unpaid intern.

  3. If Regence were to offer such coverage it would last a year. The cost of such policies would skyrocket as sick kids got signed up and healthy kids did not. Divide the risk over the pool, and you’d have insurance costing several thousand dollars a month per child. The pool would get sicker and sicker. Eventually nobody would buy the policies, and we’d be back to square one.

  4. NY Times: โ€œI think we consume far more dangerous drugs that are legal: cigarette smoking, nicotine and alcohol,โ€ said Joycelyn Elders, the former surgeon general and a supporter of [California’s] measure. โ€œI feel they cause much more devastating effects physically. We need to lift the prohibition on marijuana.โ€

A voice of reason. Unfortunately, not very common among our “authorities” and “leaders.”

  5. If the pot initiative passes in CA, don’t be surprised if the Feds go all police state on not just pot users and dealers, but people who are acting within the legal medical pot guidelines in order to deter other states from adopting similar initiatives.

  6. This speech is exactly why Sarah is going to be an AMAZING president. No straighter shooter exists, and this is a perfect example of how she’ll put the Marxist Fascists in Congress, and the Islamists in America trying to get Sharia Law enforced in their place.

    Give ’em hell Sarah!

  7. Cross posted in Publicola:

The Swiss Gotthard Base Tunnel is 35 miles long and cost $19.7 billion.
    http://primewriter.com/news-1246-headlin…

    That’s 560 million per mile.

The Deep Bore Tunnel is two miles long, and is estimated to cost $1.96 billion (minimum, before “cost overruns”)
    http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/Projects/Viaduct…

    That’s 980 million per mile.

So, a tunnel that connects two cities thought the hard bedrock of the Alps, costs nearly half as much per mile as the deep bore tunnel.

And people say their cheese is full of holes!

  8. If Prop 19 legalized torture in California, Holder would have no problem with it. After all he does not enforce the Federal Laws against torture.
