A little after noon today, the Washington State Department of Transportation posted an update saying that the tunnel boring machine’s cutterhead had mined through the rescue pit’s southern wall. There’s quite a bit of steam rising from the rescue pit, but WSDOT and Seattle Tunnel Partners will be hosting a press conference on a work platform at 3 p.m. where, hopefully, we’ll be able to get a better look.
