Snohomish County, which includes Everett, is running out of needle cleanup kits, a sign of a heroin epidemic, officials say.
As KOMO News reports, the Snohomish County Health District started giving out the kits — which consist of sharps containers, protective eye gear and gloves — but ran out of 50 kits within two days. They’re working on putting together 1,000 more.
In related and better news, Snohomish County officials say they’ve saved over 100 people from overdoses using the overdose antidote Nalaxone. (Hundreds of pharmacies in Washington carry overdose kits; you can fine them here).
