The FBI arrested 36-year-old Kevin Harpham of Addy Washington today in connection to the Spokane Martin Luther King Jr. Day Parade bombing attempt. Not surprisingly, as the news footage above shows, Harpham was arrested in exactly the sorta setting you’d expect an MLK Jr. Day Parade bomber to be arrested.

Also not surprising? Sources say Harpham is believed to be associated with “white supremacists.” Who’d a thunk?

UPDATE: The Southern Poverty Law Center reports that Harpham was a member of the neo-Nazi National Alliance. He was also a soldier stationed at Fort Lewis, which the SPLU has previously described as “one of several military installations with a concentration of secret extremist members.”

From the DOJ press release:

Kevin William Harpham was charged by complaint with the crimes of attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction and possession of an unregistered explosive device. A conviction for attempted use of a weapon of mass destruction carries a maximum penalty of life imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and up to 5- years of court supervision after release. A conviction for possession of an unregistered explosive device carries a maximum penalty of 10- years imprisonment, a $250,000 fine, and up to 3- years of court supervision after release. The investigation in this matter is continuing.

  1. “A source familiar with the investigation said the device was fueled by gunpowder or a similar commercial “low-explosive” surrounded by lead pellets and a white powder that has tested to be rat poison.”

Hardly the “sophisticated” device they initially described. Low explosives aren’t that powerful or effective at spreading shrapnel, and the rat poison trick doesn’t actually work.

    Glad they caught the guy.

  2. So, what you’re saying is this whole bomb plot was a construction created by the Powers That Be to reinforce the common culture story.

  3. Not to go off topic, but what are they training at Ft. Lewis? A ‘graduate’ can’t build a decent weapon and carry out a mission? If Ft. Lewis was a public school, the officers would be called useless and they’d need to show improvement or get taken over by the government…oh, wait…

  4. He can’t be a terrorist; he’s not a Muslim. All Muslims are terrorists, and all terrorists are Muslim, right? That’s what I heard. This guy is prolly a FREEDOM FIGHTER.
