Very exciting news just in from Sound Transit: The newest stretch of our light rail systemโ€”winding from downtown to Capitol Hill then the University Districtโ€”opens on March 19.

Seattle Transit Blog has details on the opening day party.

It’ll take the train about eight minutes to get from downtown to the U-District and just three minutes to get from Capitol Hill to the U-District. Thanks to this new leg, Sound Transit estimates some 71,000 more people will ride light rail by 2030.
