really? because in high school I got routinely bullied and intimidated by classmates who were, for lack of a better term that doesn’t seem too overwrought, fascist sympathizers when I wouldn’t say the pledge. and I would at the very least stand up because I didn’t want to be a complete asshole about not agreeing with the whole thing. yet I constantly had to spend my mornings dealing with threats and obnoxious comments instead of learning German…now that I think about the teacher of that class would gripe at me too.
not everybody was lucky enough to go to Happy Hippie Time School. the mere fact that you people are debating whether the pledge should be implemented or not is satisfactory in my eyes.
Oh Dwight calm down. I pay for your little precious to go school too, you know, if she’s in the public school system. That gives me as much of a right as anyone to have an opinion. I think it’s no big deal, you think you have to be a self-righteous spaz about it, which I think is much more of a waste of time than the pledge will ever be.
And I have no problem with parents being involved in a school – that’s what makes a good school. I just think it’s dumb to waste energy on such an ego driven non – issue when the schools are as messed up as they are, (due, in no small part, to the parents who don’t get involved in the school)
