Just promise this won’t become Obama’s Iraq. U.S. and allies plan military action in Libya, and pro-Gadhafi troops attack rebels in Benghazi.
One reassuring difference: U.S. plans to take supportive role in military action in Libya, in offshore ships and surveillance aircraft, far from front lines of conflict.
Positive developments in Japan: Engineers expected to restore cooling systems to contain radiation at Fukushima power plant by end of day.
Quake survivors could still use help though. Thousands stranded without electricity or phone service, many in make shift shelters, within contaminated radius of Fukushima power plant.
Trouble for the “world’s fastest growing company ever”: Online discount company Groupon faces tough new competitors and must search harder for marketplace deals.
Wait, what? Does this mean the boycott worked? Arizona lawmakers reject new anti-immigration regulations under pressure from tourism and convention industry.
Now how will one get the Tacoma Aroma? 21 Tacoma medical marijuana dispensaries threatened with letter from city.

There goes a piece of British rock ‘n’ roll nobility. Jet Harris, bassist for the Shadows, dies at 71.

“One reassuring difference:”
Riiight. Just remember that we started out as “advisers” in Viet Nam.
Hey, this time the people of the country WANT us hanging around helping out. If we want to call ourselves the people who promote democracy, we can’t just refuse to help Libya. It’s acts genuinely in support of the freedom of others that will help us redeem ourselves to the international community.
Yeah, VL’s right. This isn’t Vietnam. Now, don’t get me wrong, I’m no warmonger by any stretch of the imagination, but this is a different thing.
There is no similarity whatsoever between Libya & Viet Nam in the early 60’s.
I didn’t mean to compare the righteousnesses of the cause. Granted Viet Nam and Libya are two completely different things. I just wanted to point out that when it comes to wars, our starting out in a limited way, whether as “supportive” or as “advisors” doesn’t mean that’s going to be our final role. In other words our Unpaid Intern shouldn’t be quite as reassured as she or he seems to be.

“U.S. and allies plan military action in Libya”
Oh good, you fucking imbeciles, let’s get us involved in military action in a fourth Middle Eastern country.
The MIRACLE continues!
DAY FIVE

Tacoma Aroma has not existed for many years now ;)~
Barack Obama “speeds” to aid of Libyans:
I’m coming.
Just one more minute.
I’m tying my shoes laces now.
Ok…honey, where did I put those tank keys.
Libyans: We’re getting killed out here!
One minute Libyans.
Honey, I found them….did you send those bills I signed back to Congress?
Great. I’m almost ready to help now
Libyans: We are being slaughtered. Are you coming? Ouch…ow…
Yes, Libyans…almost there. Did the kids eat all the roast beef? I was going to ….
This is the rare occasion that I agree with the us fighting another country.
Bomb that mutherfucker to the stone age!!
We’re the biggest military arsenal in the world, we may as well use our weapons for GOOD (& not exploitation) for a change.
An air campaign can not do it alone. Obama will eat his words about not sending ground troops in.
I’m a Democrat. So if a Democrat President commits our country to air strikes or other military action against another country I am fully supportive. If it was a Republican I would be opposed to such military action until a Democrat becomes President. At that time I would no longer be opposed to such action even it it appears to simply continue the policy of the previous Republican administration.
See how morally superior I am to those warmongering Republicans?
I was shocked that the French Gov. was supplying actual planes to the operation. BTW, what about the French Foreign Legion? Are they going to be used?
