This Is Your Daughter/West Lake Union/Sat March 31/9:30 pm: Officer Rice reports: “I responded to the area of China Harbor. When I arrived, suspect [female, white, 17] was in front of the restaurant. Several people were attempting to assist her. She was at the base of a tree rolling slightly back and forth, moaning. She would not answer any questions asked of her…. Several times while standing near her I could see her retching.
“I requested Seattle Fire Department (SFD). SFD arrived and while they attempted to evaluate her she yelled at them to leave her alone and slapped at their hands…. SFD determined that she was not in immediate danger and were able to get her mother’s phone number from her.
“Her mother responded to the scene and picked her up. The mother said that she has never seen her daughter like this and does not know her to be a heavy drinker. The mother [took her daughter home].”
Only Love Can Break Your Heart/Capitol Hill/Wed April 3/5:17 pm: Officer Beemster reports: “Victim [white, female, 39] was text messaging her estranged husband [the complainant/witness], threatening to hurt herself. The complainant/witness stated she has threatened to hurt herself before. SFD, Officer Pelich, and I went to the victim’s unit. SFD personnel broke the door down. Victim was naked in the bathroom. The bath was full of water. On the toilet were the victim’s cell phone, a wine glass, and a knife. ‘I’m having a breakdown, aren’t I? I’m not going to live through this!’ I made the decision to have the victim transported to HMC for an involuntary mental health [admission].”
For the victim’s declaration, “I’m not going to live through this,” I offer the consolation of Peggy Lee’s song “Is That All There Is?”: “[Spoken] Then I fell in love, head-over-heels in love, with the most wonderful boy in the world. We would take long walks by the river or just sit for hours gazing into each other’s eyes. Then one day he went away and I thought I’d die, but I didn’t, and when I didn’t, I said to myself, ‘Is that all there is to love?’
[Sung] “Is that all there is, is that all there is? If that’s all there is my friends, then let’s keep dancing./Let’s break out the booze and have a ball/If that’s all there is.” ![]()

That is not my daughter.
