  1. preceeding sly stone at #1 and marvin gaye at #, 2 the beach boys at lake charlevoix michigan 1977 ranks as one of the foulest live shows i’ve ever seen.even though they were headlining, after 3 songs the audience threw ice and beer at them forcing them offstage. and this was before they did ‘kokomo’

  2. @6: Indeed! I was at a frat party in my tender youth (and just to get this out of the way, although it shouldn’t matter, as sober as a judge) when I was dragged up stairs by two young men to the chanting of the rest of the of the House that “Punk Chicks Don’t Care” and locked in a room with one of their pledges, presumably to serve as an initiation of some sort. It is by the grace of God, that as it happened I knew him from high school and he was so ashamed that he couldn’t even look at me in my terror (indeed he kept his face turned away and never uttered a word to me) and after an interval of ten or so minutes (to make it look good to his brothers outside the door who were listening) let me go.
    Good times.

  3. Until we vote out all of the old guard on the City Council, there will be no police accountability. Only the Council is able to pass ordinances, and the only way to undercut the police union is with legislation. Contract provisions that violate the law are unenforceable. So it’s ultimately very simple to create police accountability. You simply build it into the municipal code. It’s disgusting that we have such a backward, racist, pro-developer Council that the Feds have to step in to curb our racist, pro-corporate thuggery.

  4. After America: Get Ready For Armagedden has to be the funniest lib-crushing book ever written. Even if you, as 99% of you seem to be, are from the left side of the table, you’ll have to laugh at Mark Steyn.

If Hollywoodโ€™s liberal, if the newspapers are liberal, if the pop stars are liberal, if the grade schools are liberal, if the very language is liberal to the point where all the nice words have been co-opted as a painless liberal sedative, a Republican legislature isnโ€™t going to be a shining city on a hill so much as one of those atolls in the Maldives being incrementally swallowed by Al Goreโ€™s allegedly rising sea levels

  5. Seriously SROTU,

You seem like a pretty bright guy. Adress Max’s point there — you don’t actually buy into that crap about global warming as myth do you? I mean, I actually had a modicum of respect (sans support) for Ron Paul before he started espousing all that ignorance fueled bullshit from the idiot fringe of the GOP base (pro-life, pro-DOMA, global warming denial, etc…)
