Bad news for avocado-toast-eating millennial homebuyers: Nearly 1 in every 5 or 6 homes across King County sold for upwards of $1 million last year. This number is growing at the fastest rate in the nation. In Seattle alone, nearly 20 percent of homes reached seven figures. Places like Renton and Burien weren’t spared. Even Kent, Federal Way and Enumclaw saw similar prices. If you’re 21-37 and planning on buying a home here anytime soon, you better cut that avocado toast out of your diet or you’ll be renting forever.

Alaska struck by 7.9 earthquake: A tsunami alert went into effect last night after an earthquake occurred off of Alaska’s Kodiak Island. Many fled for higher ground. But 90 minutes after the alert, there was no sign of waves. This isn’t exactly in the same category as the Hawaii and South Korea false alarms since there was an actual threat. But, tell me all of these alarms going off don’t sound eerily similar to the plot of “The Boy Who Cried Wolf.” The earthquake is the largest recorded within the Pacific plate in the Gulf of Alaska.

Tukwila school district scraps new building plan: The Birth-to-Five center that residents voted for in a ballot measure in 2016 was meant to alleviate overcrowding at three elementary schools. The plans are being scrapped. Building costs have increased and school enrollment has lessened in the years since the measure was passed. The district will decide the best use for the $99.16 million from the ballot measure.

We’re about to get an inch of rain today: Meteorologists are predicting a deluge of rain and snow across Western Washington today. There’s a winter storm watch in the North Cascades. Here in Seattle, we’re going to get soggy.

Let’s see if our pop culture commentators over at Joe Bar have anything to say about the nominations: According to Corbin and the folks at Joe Bar they’re apprised of the nominations, but that’s about all the information they have on that front. In separate pop culture news, recent menu changes at Joe Bar did away with their paninis. This made local hip hop hero Macklemore, a Joe Bar regular, upset. He offered to buy them a panini press in order to bring back the Joe Bar panini. Joe Bar is not bringing back the panini.

“He actually came in yesterday and I teased him about it,” Corbin said. “I asked him if he wanted a panini.”

Seattle comes in at number one: For most “hygge.” Yes, that’s the Danish word for “coziness.” No, I don’t know how to pronounce it. Crosscut doesn’t tell us the correct pronunciation but it does tell us what this possibly says about Seattle’s culture.

Rosie the Riveter is dead: Naomi Parker Fraley, 96, died Saturday in Longview. She worked at the Naval Air Station in Alameda after the attack on Pearl Harbor.

Good morning, here’s another school shooting: Shots were fired at a Southwest Kentucky high school. One person is confirmed dead. Many are reported injured. The shooter is in custody.

Last week a Capitol Hill man tried to kill his boyfriend: By stabbing him 25 times. The police showed up during the attack, walking in on the suspect hacking at his boyfriend in their apartment bathroom. The victim remains hospitalized in satisfactory condition at Harborview Medical Center.

Jeff Sessions has been interviewed by the special counsel: Robert Mueller is bringing the heat. This time to Attorney General Jeff Sessions. Last week, Sessions was questioned for several hours as part of the investigation into Russia’s involvement in the 2016 election and whether Donald Trump has obstructed justice. Sessions is the first member of Trump’s cabinet to be interviewed.

More about my 12-year-old brother: Yesterday, I reported Cody’s football commentary about the Super Bowl. I assumed he was too high-and-mighty to talk to me and instead had his mom relay comment. However, it has come to light that Cody has been grounded. He’s been banned from all electronics all week. This is because he refused to do his homework on Sunday night.

Oh yeah, the government is no longer shut down: Compromise was reached yesterday when the Senate voted overwhelmingly to fund the government. All the Democrats got for their efforts was Mitch McConnell’s promise that they’ll talk about DACA solutions. We’ll see how that goes.

Has Seattle’s firebug struck again? A fire in a vacant Discovery Park auditorium has been ruled an arson. There have been a string of arsons in the Magnolia area and other Seattle neighborhoods.

Traffic report: There are a lot of block on the northbound I-5. A dump truck was cleared earlier but there are other stalls blocking lanes.

Also, there’s a lot of traffic up and down Roy Street: According to Corbin at Joe Bar. Plus, a lot of people walking up and down the streets. Joe Bar’s expecting some wait times as people head in for lots of small coffees and pastries.
