A Seattle police officer has filed a $10 million claim against the city: He was assigned to clean up a homeless encampment near the West Seattle bridge earlier this year where he claims he was exposed to โ€œan extremely dangerous man-made toxin.” He says the exposure has caused him to contract early onset Type 2 diabetes. His attorney: โ€œThe exposure to these toxins damaged his already susceptible liver even further. Now, he faces ongoing medical care.โ€

Trump signed the border wall with a Sharpie: He loves Sharpies.

Back on my WeWork bullshit: To be fair, this is something I would do. To be fair x2, pretending my real estate company is a tech company is not something I would do.

Our new neighbors provide endless drama: Also, remember that company that was locked out of their WeWork because of a naughty umbrella? Vice has an article by the umbrella’s owner: “It Was My Umbrella That Locked Us Out of the WeWork.” Big news, I know.

Another real estate company with a local office: Compass! GeekWire has a good article on Compass CEO Robert Reffkin and their big new Seattle tech center.

Did you love that seven-hour climate change town hall? Well you’re in luck! CNN announced they’ll have an LGBTQ town hall with the Democratic candidates on October 10. 11,000 people lost power in South Seattle today: Due to โ€œsignificantโ€ damage to the electrical system.

We missed this yesterday: Sorry. But look, a giant Cheez-It stuffed with Cheez. It launched nationwide on Tuesday. The pizza is four giant crackers stuffed with Cheez. I don’t get it.

The teens are taking over this week: And in general, but they’re really taking over this week. Nathalie posted about this in Slog AM, but here are some follow-up clips from Greta Thunberg, Jamie Margolin, and other teens’ testimonies today in a Congressional subcommittee:

Trudeau did some serious blackface in 2001: It’s Laurence Olivier-as-Othello level blackface, which is bad.

Nathalie’s covering tonight’s School Board Meeting: Where students have signed up for public comment to urge SPS to excuse absences on Friday for the Global Climate Strike. Follow her feed:

Housekeeping! I’ll be on the HUMP jury ALL DAY TOMORROW (JUDGING NINE to TEN HOURS of NON-STOP PORN with my COWORKERS is LABOR, BABY ๐Ÿ†๐Ÿ’ฆ๐Ÿ‘) and so Sir Richard Smith will be taking over Slog PM. I’ll also be out on Friday, so Jasmyne and Lester will be writing le PM. Good luck, kids!

Capitol Hill Seattle Blog has a girthy feature up today on the differences between D3 City Council opponents Sawant and Orion: One difference is that Egan Orion “offers up intimate details political candidates usually donโ€™t disclose to a reporter,” like “the name of the person he lost his virginity to.” CHS Blog doesn’t give the name. Sad.

Sawant gets a “historic” endorsement from the 43rd District Democrats: “Sawant won the endorsement of the influentialโ€”if a bit wonkyโ€”political group Tuesday night garnering a surprising 69% of the vote,” writes CHS Blog. More here.

India completely bans vaping: They’re still cool with cigarettes though…

Trump promotes a false video of Rep. Ilhan Omar on Twitter: The video “falsely accused Democratic Rep. Ilhan Omar of dancing and partying last week on the 18th anniversary of the 9/11 terrorist attacks,” writes PBS News Hour. Trump tweeted the video and wrote, โ€œThe new face of the Democrat Party!โ€ The videoโ€”and Twitterโ€”was widely criticized, with Omar tweeting, โ€œWhat is Twitter doing to combat this misinformation?โ€ The original tweet was removed and deleted by the user. Twitter confirmed that they did not remove it.

We’d like to congratulate Phil the Axolotl: For becoming the #1 Google Image search result for axolotls. He’s come so far since we interviewed him.

Hell yeah, Phil! #1, baby!
