The Matt Shea report is in the hands of legislators: Reports The Guardian. That rag has done excellent reporting on Washington’s far right state representative and his extremist Christian nationalist views and paranoia. Shea’s been under an external investigation after “The Guardian revealed earlier this year that he had been involved in chats with supporters which advocated violence against and surveillance of perceived political adversaries.” Lawmakers are currently keeping their lips sealed about the info in the report.
If you think Labour’s huge loss in the U.K. means the U.S. left is fucked: I encourage you to stop making bad comparisons, remember that Jeremy Corbyn had a -40 net approval rating, and start looking at polling averages.
Here’s one:
and even if you want to say โwell those were moderatesโ you should probably also contend with the fact that the most left-wing candidate in the presidential race with near-universal name recognition consistently outpolls trump pic.twitter.com/JUFPmF2hEj

Here’s another.
Next week’s Democratic debate is embroiled in labor strike controversy: A workers’ strike is planned at Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, where next week’s Dem debate will take place. The protest is organized by UNITE HERE Local 11, a union representing cooks, dishwashers, and cashiers at the university, due to them being unable to reach a resolution in a collective bargaining agreement with Sodexo, a French food services and facilities management company. There are seven candidates who have qualified for the debate, and all candidates have said they won’t cross the picket line. Buttigieg and Klobuchar came out in support last on Twitter, after Biden had announced he would not cross the line. Here’s what they’ve said on Twitter, in chronological order.
.@UniteHere11 is fighting for better wages and benefitsโand I stand with them. The DNC should find a solution that lives up to our party’s commitment to fight for working people. I will not cross the union’s picket line even if it means missing the debate.
โ Elizabeth Warren (@ewarren) December 13, 2019
I stand with the workers of @UniteHere11 on campus at Loyola Marymount University fighting Sodexo for a better contract. I will not be crossing their picket line.
โ Bernie Sanders (@BernieSanders) December 13, 2019
I wonโt cross the @UniteHere11 picket line to attend next weekโs debate. We must live our values and there is nothing more core to the Democratic Party than the fight for working people. I support @UniteHere11 in their fight for the compensation and benefits they deserve.

I won’t be crossing a picket line. Weโve got to stand together with @UniteHere11 for affordable health care and fair wages. A job is about more than just a paycheck. It’s about dignity. https://t.co/nn4tb5q8wt
โ Joe Biden (@JoeBiden) December 13, 2019
I support @UNITEHERE11. If their dispute with @sodexoUSA is not resolved before the debate, I will not cross the picket line. I trust the DNC will find a solution ahead of the debate, and I stand with @LoyolaMarymount workers in their fight for fair wages and benefits.
โ Tom Steyer (@TomSteyer) December 13, 2019
I take the debate stage to stand up for workersโ rights, not to undermine them.
I stand in solidarity with the workers of @UNITEHERE11 at Loyola Marymount University and I will not cross their picket line.
โ Pete Buttigieg (@PeteButtigieg) December 13, 2019
As I said at my event with labor leaders here in Miami, I will not cross the picket line and I will stand with @UniteHere11 to fight for the dignity of work.
โ Amy Klobuchar (@amyklobuchar) December 13, 2019
The DNC chair, Tom Perez, also came out in support of UNITE HERE Local 11: This should continue evolving over the weekend. The debate is scheduled for next Thursday.
New DNC statement. “Tom Perez would absolutely not cross a picket line and would never expect our candidates to either. We are working with all stakeholders to find an acceptable resolution.”
given that Perez was Labor Secretary, will be interesting to see how this plays out. pic.twitter.com/IO9QKwwGE3

House Judiciary Committee indicts Trump on two counts: Abuse of power and obstruction of Congress. The articles of impeachment will go to the House for a floor vote Wednesday. The President will likely be impeached and then put on trial in the Senate, where a provincial body masquerading as a Republican party and a handful of spineless Dems will likely vote to acquit him as early as January. What a great democracy we got goin’ on here.
Speaking of that impeachment vote… “Join us on the eve of the House impeachment vote to demand Congress fulfill its Constitutional duty by voting to impeach President Trump for his crimes, abuse of power and obstruction of justice,” reads the event promo.
We need you to join us next week to tell our Members of Congress to IMPEACH & REMOVE Donald Trump from office.
The event will take place the day before the historic impeachment vote in downtown Seattle. You wonโt want to miss it!

Remember when Bertha hit that steel beam?? The contractors who ran into it owe Washington $57 million for the delay it caused in boring the downtown tunnel, according to the Seattle Times.
Another anti-trans bill in Olympia: Washington Rep. Brad Klippert, a part-time school cop famous for introducing an anti-trans bathroom bill and for yelling about anal sex on the House floor, submitted a bill that would specifically prohibit trans girls from competing in girls’ sports. According to the Seattle Times, which reviewed Washington’s inclusive transgender sports policy on the tenth anniversary of its implementation, “three known transgender athletes have competed in WIAA sports since 2007.” This bill is obviously just more bullying bullshit from ALEC, yet another effort to stir up a culture war in a Democratic stronghold at the expense of kids. It makes one wonder why Klippert is so focused on teenage genitals.
If the news seems too dark today: The only cure is to go darker.
We wish Spokaneโs city council president was our mayor: This guy really wants to see CATS. Dan does, too.
He doesn’t specify which movie he’s excited to see on December 19, but I’m assuming it’s CATS.
