McConnell says he’ll consider legislation regarding gun safety in September: The Senate Majority Leader said “what we can’t do is fail to pass something” and “the urgency of this is not lost on any of us.” But he won’t reconvene the Senate early like Democrats want him to.

Wow, so sad: The GOP announced this afternoon that they will not be spending any ad money on Twitter advertising after Twitter locked an account associated with Mitch McConnell’s reelection campaign. That decision has been reversed, but here’s what went down: The locking occurred after McConnell’s account shared a video of people making threats against him. One protestor in the video said the senator “should have broken his little, raggedy, wrinkled-ass neck” after a recent surgery. After the locking, McConnell and the GOP accused Twitter of being biased against conservatives. Twitter revived the account shortly after the controversy. “The user was temporarily locked out of their account for a tweet that violated our violent threats policy, specifically threats involving physical safety,” Twitter told the Washington Post.

Biden won’t call trump a white nationalist: But he says there’s not “much of a distinction” between him and a white nationalist. Biden is currently campaigning at the Iowa State Fair. Yesterday, Beto O’Rourke called Trump a white nationalist. Today, Elizabeth Warren also called Trump a white nationalist. Here’s the video of Biden:

Rainier had a blowout: Debris and boulders AS BIG AS PICKUP TRUCKS were sent flying out of Mt. Rainier after a glacial outburst around 6:50 p.m. on Monday, reports the Seattle Times. It lasted around an hour and had four separate surges. The pictures are cool.

This is hard to watch: As Nathalie said this morning in Slog AM, many children have been left homeless after a massive ICE raid in Mississippi swept up nearly 680 people.

More local ICE protests: Jewish protestors gathered in front of the ICE office in downtown Seattle today. โ€œEverybody knows โ€˜never again.โ€™ We always say that,โ€ a local organizer of Never Again Action told Crosscut. โ€œThis is a never again moment.โ€

Hot, hot topics: Stranger staffers Jasmyne, Nathalie, and Lester were on TV this morning. They had “Spaghetts” with Margaret Larson, the host of New Day Northwest. Watch, make a spaghett, and drink every time someone says “scooter.” (Actually, don’t. You’ll die.)

Everett-based Funko is killing it: The local toymaker, known for those weird bobblehead-like figurines, “blew away analyst expectations” by posting revenue of $191.2 million in the second quarter, a nearly 40 percent spike.

Probably drunk woman hit and fucked up a police car in Arlington: A 24-year-old has been arrested after she hit an Arlington Police Department vehicle early this morning. There were two officers in the car who were injured and taken to the hospital for minor injuries. The driver was arrested under suspicion of being drunk.

Trump has a new pick for the national intelligence director: Joseph Maguire.

A different dark lord rises: He’s sort of cute.

Who will croak next: Weโ€™ve had to write not one, but two obituaries for widely adored cultural figures this week: Toni Morrison and David Berman. Keimig composed hers while sobbing. Considering the rule of three, today everyone in the editorial office got to thinking: which earth-shattering, beloved artist will we have to write an obit for tomorrow? Vote in the poll below.
