Mike O’Brien’s inbox is probably a hateful disaster right now: The bitter fight over the design of 35th Ave NE rolls on. A majority of Seattle City Council members have come out and stated they are worried about the safety of cyclists biking along the street. The worry comes after safety concerns were raised (for the bazillionth time) by cycling activists and videos of drivers speeding past cyclists started trending online. Seattle Times reports that Councilmember Mike O’Brien is considering introducing a proviso that would limit spending on another SDOT project until the department agrees to change 35th. Other council members told the Times they are considering supporting the proviso. Mayor Durkan’s administration continues to defend the redesign.

A dog summited Mount Rainier for the first time ever: His name is Loki and he’s an inspiration. Loki is a medical service dog with many accomplishments, previously climbing one of Colorado’s “14ers” (a Rocky Mountain summit over 14,000 feet tall). One of Loki’s climbing partners told KOMO that mountain climbing isn’t just for any dog. Only special dogs. See a pic of Loki here.

The second night of Dem debates just started: Watch it below.

Tough spin: But technically true?

The Senate-drafted bill is now headed to Trump: “This is not the one we had hoped for, but it’s the one I hope we’re voting on today,” Pelosi said today, reports Al Jazeera. Republicans said they would blame Democrats for the condition of migrant children if the bill was not passed.

Overheard in the office: “I think we’re still going to be talking about Post Malone in 10 years.” This has ignited a heated fight. I will not reveal who said this because I don’t want them to be harassed, but I am embarrassed for him.

The Washington State Liquor and Cannabis Board (WSLCB) has been flooded with letters: Asking the regulatory board to deny accused rapist David Meinert a liquor license at the Mecca, the historic Seattle bar he recently purchased, reports KUOW. The WSLCB has received over 100 letters, emails, and phone calls about Meinert. “There may not be anything in there to deny a license,” a WSLCB spokesperson told KUOW. The board can deny licenses because of criminal convictions, but not allegations. Meinert has denied most of the allegations, although he admitted to KUOW that he has been “handsy” in the past.

Enjoy your late sunsets, Seattle: It turns out Seattle experiences its latest sunsets of the year after the summer solstice, not before! It has to do with our latitude, explains the Seattle Times. “Farther north—at Seattle—the latest sunset happened around June 25. Farther south—at Mexico City or Hawaii—the latest sunset won’t happen until early July,” writes Bruce McClure for EarthSky.

Trump is about to be (very lightly) censored on Twitter: If Trump wasn’t the president (it still feels ridiculous to type that fact), his tweets might be taken down for violating Twitter’s policies. But Trump’s the president, so everything he does is wretchedly newsworthy. So, Twitter keeps up his tweets—for the most part. Today, Twitter announced a new policy that will cause warnings to pop up when Trump (or any newsworthy figure) tweets out policy-breaking content.

3…2…1… until…: The right inevitably complains that Twitter is limiting free speech—again, Twitter is a private company, it can censor the speech of everyone on its platform if it wants. The more interesting concern here is how Twitter is making editorial decisions. Along with Facebook, Twitter should be held to the same standards as traditional publishers. Maybe one day… For now, I guess we get this:

Chick-fil-A owns the libs four years in a row: The Georgia-based chicken chain is America’s favorite restaurant… again. They’ve won four years in a row. The ranking is put together by the American Customer Satisfaction Index. The fast food restaurant’s sales are also soaring, writes CNN, generating “more than $10.5 billion in sales in its most recent fiscal year.” I know that as a good homosexual I’m not supposed to eat at Chick-fil-A, cuz they basically hate the gays, but I fucking love eating Chick-fil-A. Sue me!

Apple’s design guru is out: Apple’s chief design officer, Jony Ive, has been with the company since 1992. Today, Ive announced he is leaving the company to start his own design firm. He will remain Apple’s chief design officer until later this year. Ive’s firm will be called “LoveFrom” (ew) and will launch in 2020. Apple will be its first client.

Aaaaaand Apple’s stock tumbles: By billions of dollars! An hour after announcing Jony Ive’s exit, Apple’s stock dropped. The company saw $9 billion wiped from its market cap today. That said, $9 billion is a drop in the bucket for Apple, totaling to a small 1 percent drop. Analysts expect Apple to bounce back.

The Stranger Election Control Board (SECB) ends with eggs: As Slog PM readers are well aware, Stranger World Headquarters has been slogging through endorsement meetings, trying to decide who you should vote for in the upcoming elections in Seattle and King County. Candidates are encouraged to bribe us with food. In a first for the SECB, we’ve been given eggs. They are extra large and from Everett and brought to us by Sam Cho, who is running for Port Commission Position 2. Cho also brought us pastries from Tous les Jours and “Milkis,” a “refreshing milk & yogurt flavor” drink with a nebulous expiration date:
