Seattle Times Special Report: “Washington’s civil-commitment program that shields society from the worst sex offenders is burdened with unchecked legal costs and secrecy.” That can’t be good.
Loose Seal! “A furry surprise straight from the arctic recently showed up in a South Seattle womanโs yard about a mile near the mouth of the Duwamish River.” What was this furry surprise? A ribbon seal!
Joe Paterno Died: The Penn State football coach was diagnosed with lung cancer in December. He was 85.
South Carolina: In the words of Paul Constant, “Winner: Newt Gingrich. Loser: Everyone Else.”
Mitt Romney Changed His Mind?! Romney announced that he will release his tax returns on Tuesday. He admitted that refusing to release them was a “mistake” and a “distraction.”
Is Now Really the Best Time to Join the EU? Croatians are voting in a referendum on EU membership today.
In Yemen: Thousands gathered to protest the new law granting amnesty to President Saleh. Parliament granted him amnesty for crimes committed during his entire 33-year rule in exchange for his resignation.
In Syria: The Arab League agreed to extend its mission by another month. According to the BBC, “Syrian officials are likely to be pleased with the league’s decision because they are not afraid of the monitors.”

Joe Paterno didn’t die, they killed him (by taking away his reason to live). Say what you want, he was still one of the greatest coaches who ever lived.
RIP, Joe.
He killed himself, if anything.
Why all the adoration being given to a pedophile enabler anyway? I only regret there’s no hell for that enabling piece of shit to rot in.
He smeared his legacy with his decision to take no action. Good riddance, pedophile enabling man.
Fuck JoPa. Pray for the victims.
“a mile from the mouth of the duwamish”. the nearest i can figure is out on alki head – there’s no closer place where there are residential waterfront lots. its a weird way to put it.

Fantastic animals.
Regarding Romney’s tax returns, when are rhese guys going to learn? It’s SOP for POTUS candidates to release them, at least if they’re frontrunners. This clown just thinks he’s entitled to the job.

Strange episodes with Paterno. A school paper editor apparently announced Paterno’s death prematurely and got his story picked up by national media, then submitted his resignation when Paterno’s family claimed this was false. But hours later, they announced Paterno has died.

By the way, didn’t Paterno hire a rabidly anti-lesbian women’s basketball coach and stand behind her?
Why all the adoration being given to a pedophile enabler anyway?
You think this is bad, wait till Roman Polanski croaks.
@1, oh come now, 5280. He was 85 years old. And of course he was a great coach. But I would argue that despite all he did for the students he coached, his greatest lesson was his failure. What better way to show that heroes are not always what they seem to be, that good people can make egregious mistakes, and that life can sometimes bite you hard in the ass, even when your reputation seems assured? Blind hero worship is a terrible, terrible thing. I’m glad he fell down to earth.
That is a very beautiful kind of seal. Best wishes to him on his way to wherever he is going.
@1
No, he threw away his reason to live. He was solely responsible for his own mistakes.
