Seattle Central Community College is now accepting public proposals for what to do with the Egyptian Theatre, but don’t fill out the paper work for your hookah lounge pipe dream quite yet! Seattle Central is most interested in proposals that will commit to hosting SIFF and other film festivals.

“We understand the cultural value of the Egyptian Theatre to the Capitol Hill neighborhood and the City of Seattle, and we would like to see it continue to be a center of cultural arts,” said Seattle Central president Paul Killpatrick.

If you need a refresher on what the 600-seat theater looks like, a public site visit is scheduled 2 to 4 p.m. on August 13. SCCC is looking for a 10-year lease, with possible five-year extensions. The deadline to apply is September 17.
