There’s also some election over there someplace called Europe. It’s only the biggest transnational election ever. There’s like hundreds of millions of people involved.
As we sit here in the USA trying to figure out what the heck do we do, we vote for these democrats then they screw us on dodt and health care and many things, gee whilikers, what to do, what to do, boo hoo, boo hoo, well maybe we should get a bit more educated and not just pay attention to europe when there are nekkid hot tub photos? I mean we love to note how dumb thte GOP is. And if you heard that people over in Europe didn’t even know that America had an election and didn’t even care about the results …..you’d think they were just stupid.
What is this site, the urban-hip-alt-“Dumb Americans” site???
The groups trying to block the Chrystler sale are quite correct: Senior debt holders do deserve first crack at any assets a company has. That’s why they call them SENIOR debt holder. The worry here is if we decide in this case to give stockholders, (particuarly the UAW, with whom I have no ideological arguement, but in this case they are screwing a bunch of pensioners -it’s 3 pension funds who brought the complaint- who bought bonds especally BECAUSE they are safer.) preference, then the effect on the bond market could be chilling. And the value of the bond market is roughly 8-10x the value of the stock market… not the thing you want to mess with. Plus it’s pretty much a violation of contract law. Interesting to see how it plays out…
I heard Hutchison is a Republican.
Dan should have Erica look into it…
@1 You are incomprehensibly stupid. Go back to the loser GOP. They are only in it for themselves. Just like you.
“Should Have Went”???
Europe leaned to the right Sunday as tens of millions of people voted in European Parliament elections, with conservative parties leading or favored in many countries amid a global economic crisis.
Opinion surveys and exit polls showed right-leaning governments edging the opposition in Germany, Italy, France, Belgium and elsewhere. Conservative opposition parties were tied or ahead in Britain, Spain and some smaller countries.
Britain, Ireland, the Netherlands and five other EU nations cast ballots in the last three days, while the rest of the 27-nation bloc voted Sunday. Results for most countries were expected later in the day.
The EU parliament has evolved over five decades from a consultative legislature to one with the power to vote on or amend two-thirds of all EU laws.
Here’s a Prince video for ya.

How is Obama different from Bush?
On torture, war on terror, gitmo etc there is no real difference in policy.
He has quintupled the deficit (to $2Trillion from $400Billion)
He nominates to the Supreme Court a judge daddy Bush first put on the Federal bench
He is a global media superstar but can’t cash in his popularity to get any actual cooperation from Europe or the Middle East.
how is Obama different from Bush?
Way more expensive but popular (for now)
SHOULD HAVE GONE.
Ok more news from Europeland. The prez possibly ate FOIE GRAS!
“For the Obamas, date night in Paris
By JENNY BARCHFIELD โ 17 hours ago
PARIS (AP) โ Ah, Paris. The city of love. And the city of this week’s presidential date night.
A week after flying to New York for dinner and a Broadway show, President Barack Obama and first lady, Michelle, dined at a cozy neighborhood bistro just a few blocks from the Eiffel Tower.
The president and first lady were in France to join their counterparts from France, Canada and Britain to commemorate the 65th anniversary of D-Day, the allied invasion of Normandy in World War II that led to victory in Europe.
La Fontaine de Mars dates back to 1908 and specializes in rustic dishes from France’s southwest region of Bordeaux Perigord and the Basque. Foie gras, duck and cassoulet are on the menu, although the White House has not said what the president and first lady chose.”
[N.B.: The Fountain of Mars? A celebration of war? Translation please.]
The menu is pretty cheap. They have two foie gras dishes also terrine and frites of the house. No burgers, though.

Merde, moi, je l’aime bien toujours, moi….
“PARIS (AFP) — The US first family took a long ramble through the Pompidou modern art museum in Paris on Sunday …After the president had left to return to Washington, first lady Michelle Obama took their daughters to the Louvre, …
[AT the Centre G.P.] The girls, 10-year-old Malia and Sasha, 7, were given time to make their own Calder-style wire sculptures before the museum opened to the public, and dad “was very attentive to his daughters.” …Security was tight wherever the Obamas went in Paris with helicopters hovering overhead. Large crowds assembled wherever they went. Sporting an Obama T-shirt, and on his second gruelling day of pacing Paris streets on Obama-watch, Patrice Thevenin said outside the Pompidou Centre, “I want to see him because he has made us love America again.”
[woo-hoo! The French loves us again.]
..After lunch the girls and their mother stopped off for a spot of shopping at a high-end children’s fashion store, Bonpoint, a firm with a 50-million-euro turnover and nine Paris stores in well-heeled parts of town. [Can’t wait to see their chique vetements des enfants….probably better stuff than Gap for Kids, no?] Afterwards, …the ladies went on a private tour of The Louvre museum, escorted by its director …
On Saturday night the family were cheered by huge crowds as they visited the Gothic splendour of the Notre Dame cathedral, and then went to dine in a Paris bistro. Thousands of Parisians and tourists lined bridges over the River Seine as their motorcade headed for the traditional French eatery complete with red-chequered table-cloths and red-and-white awnings….Obama chose roast lamb and no wine, the others went for beef fillets.”
Okay, pas de foie gras.
Maybe he doesn’t want to turn the USA into France, after all.
Clearly, the plan is to turn America into France.
Prince makes my dick hard.
I expected Top Petty or whoever else was there to walk over and hug him or bow and scrape or something – but Prince beats them all to the punch by immediately turning his back on the whole thing and walking away. Schools out boys.
Prince is living testament to the power of the nine months of winter that afflict Minnesota. Lots of tie to practice your guitar solos!
@13 Hug would have been nasty, since Harrison had been dead for three years by this point.
wow, on the weekends Slog is populated entirely by the retarded
Prince is just a fucking god.
I love Prince’s music. But I have come not to love Prince so much:
“… youโve got some churches, some people, basically doing things and saying it comes from here, but it doesnโt. And then on the opposite end of the spectrum youโve got blue, youโve got the Democrats, and theyโre, like, โYou can do whatever you want.โ Gay marriage, whatever. But neither of them is right.’
“When asked about his perspective on social issuesโgay marriage, abortionโPrince tapped his Bible and said, ‘God came to earth and saw people sticking it wherever and doing it with whatever, and he just cleared it all out. He was, like, “Enough.” ‘ “
