Trump Announces Pick for FBI Director: It’s Christopher Wray, a former assistant attorney general who oversaw the Justice Department’s criminal division under former President George W. Bush, The New York Times reports. Unsurprisingly, Trump made the announcement on Twitter:

Meanwhile, James Comey Prepares to Testify Against the Tweeter-in-Chief: Wray’s predecessor, who was fired in May, will testify before the open Senate intelligence committee tomorrow at 10 a.m. ET. Comey is expected to discuss his conversations with Trump, in which the president allegedly asked him to stop the FBI investigation into the Trump presidential campaign’s ties to Russia, CNN reports.

Evergreen State College’s Class of 2017 Will Graduate in Tacoma: The ceremony will be held at Cheney Stadium, rather than the Olympia campus because the facility is “secure,” Evergreen President George Bridges wrote in an e-mail to students. Bridges’ announcement follows nearly three days of campus shutdowns due to two threats made to local law enforcement officials in the last week. The threats came in on the heels of student demonstrations calling on Evergreen administrators to address longstanding issues concerning racism, sexism, homophobia, transphobia, and treatment of students with disabilities on campus.

Reporter Detained During DC Protests Faces 75 Years: A federal grand jury indicted journalist Aaron Cantú on eight counts related to a riot that took place in Washington DC on Inauguration Day. Cantú’s lawyer says he was working as a reporter that day, covering the protest when he was arrested. The indictment does not specifically name Cantú as a perpetrator of any property destruction that day—rather, saying he was in the area when it happened. Free press advocates have spoken out against the arrest of Cantú, who now writes for the Santa Fe Reporter.

“But being near a newsworthy event is no crime for anyone, reporters included,” said the Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press in a February statement.

Sydney and Heidi also covered the DC protest. Here’s Sydney’s video from one of the police corrals that led to arrests (it’s unclear whether Cantú’s arrest took place at this time):
