I guess that “let’s sit down with insurers” approach is what we’d call a failure. And as the NYT sez today, he’s incapable of giving the nation a simple narrative about things.

So as that NYT piece says, since he has no narrative, the narrative is becoming this:

Good for Tom. Option A+ isn’t my favorite either, but it is OK – much better than a lot of other options. In particular, it is better than spending another 15 years arguing about what to do (Yes – planning on the bridge replacement started in 1995!) There isn’t a perfect solution that makes everyone happy that we are willing to pay for – let’s go with option A+
I don’t see at all how Tom is even close to still being a Republican. Since becoming a Democrat his votes have been pretty much lock-step with the caucus, even moreso than Ross Hunter or Deb Eddy. I understand Hunter and Eddy are moderates but that’s also what Tom purports to be and his record has easily been more liberal than either of them the last few sessions.
Here’s a tip for nice liberal gay folks: Don’t enlist in the military as they don’t want you. If you really, really want to help your country there are other ways to do it; If you really, really want to get your arms and legs blown off, do volunteer work for a charity in one of the world’s many war zones.
