Hello and welcome to this special moment in time. You’ve never known
more about life than you do right now, and yet you’re smart enough to
recognize that you still have things to learn. These
pages—written by the staff of The Stranger, who know all
about college because many of us went to college before dropping out,
and all about sex because we constantly have it, and all about drugs
because we constantly do them—will tell you how to get someone to
have sex with you, how to do drugs of various magnitude, how to pass
your classes in any subject, and how to get the most out of the city.
Are you excited? You should be. Are you a virgin? That’s okay with us.
Are you nervous? We can help.

Your Indispensable Guide to the Things No One Else Will Tell You by the Only Newspaper in Seattle That Isn’t Ridiculous and Irrelevant™ is right here, in the links to the right.recommended

  1. Capitol Hill is the most diverse neighborhood in the city? How do you figure? Maybe if you’re counting variety of piercings. Those “awkward” neighborhoods to the south you barely mention are actually some of the most diverse neighborhoods in the country. South Seattle speaks over 60 languages, you see people of all walks of life and many nations riding the bus and playing in the parks together, and you can get the widest variety of snack foods. Tasty squid chips, anyone?

  2. hello “get real”, if you’re like me, you’re in your very late 30’s or early 40’s and have grown to discover the beauty, diversity and culture that is Columbia City and Beacon Hill. don’t forget, many writers for The Stranger are very early 20-somethings who’ve yet to stretch out beyond what’s “hip”, where to “eat”, “drink” and hear “music”. they’re speaking to a like minded crowd and have collected their information from their own youthful-narrow view point. give them 10-15 years and they’ll be all over the TRULY diverse neighbors… yet too old to work for the stranger and write about it!!

  3. the annual, completely lame, attempt to “win” the hearts and minds of innocent college freshman so that the stranger can milk what they can from u-district advertisers the rest of the year.

so tired. the “neighborhoods” section pretty much tells you Everything You Need to Know About The Stranger. Too cool for school. Study hard kids, or you’ll be working for a low wages at a rag like this one and resenting 85% of Seattle for their apparent wealth.

  4. I find the bar I work in taken over by college age kids who are impatient and messy and don’t tip. Stranger, you gave great advice about how to order a drink like an adult but that needs an etiquette follow-up. Please mention the buck a drink standard and tipping at least 15%, esp late. I can put up with any kind of self-obsessed faux-intelligencia as long as I am being paid to do so. This will make my world and in turn your world a much better place. Thanks and keep up the great writing.

  5. Hey the_smith:

Maybe you should have gone to college so that you wouldn’t have to be serving and bitching about those who did for the rest of your life.

You’d make that 15% back tenfold over the course of your career.

Or you could just stay at your bartending job projecting and complaining — which is probably a LOT easier than going to college.

    cunt.
