Nikole Hannah-Jones has a great piece in the current New York Times magazine about the difficulty in choosing a school for her daughter in a segregated city. That city is New York. But a similar story could also be written in Seattle.

So after you read Hannah-Jones’s piece, check out local public school teacher Sean Riley’s April article for The Stranger on how Seattle’s schools became so alarmingly re-segregated, and what can be done. Riley’s piece cites earlier work that Hannah-Jones did explaining how America once tried to integrate its schools but then gave up.
