I don’t remember voting to elect Andy Kindler the
President of Comedy, but I’d like to hug all you motherfucking constituents who did. The New York–born, L.A.-based Kindler (who performs the much-lauded “State of the Industry Address” each year at the Montreal Just for Laughs festival) dissects pop culture, show business, dumb audiences, and his own act—as it
unfolds—with bitter wit and exhilarating ruthlessness. He has been doing it forever, and he is a master. (Laughs Comedy Spot, 12099 124th Ave NE, Kirkland, 425-823-6306, 8 pm [18+] and
10 pm [21+], $15
)

Lindy West was born an unremarkable female baby in Seattle, Washington. The former Stranger writer covered movies, movie stars, exclamation points, lady stuff, large frightening fish, and much, much more....

  1. YAY for Andy Kindler!

    I am such a fan. Watching Andy Kindler, who often teeters on (and sometimes over) the verge of control…with an act that is both extremely smart and extremely silly, and that comments on the process of generating and performing humor (and generating a second layer of laughs from that) as much as he’s actually trying to elicit laughs on the surface, is a reward for anyone who truly loves stand-up comedy.

    And, with Andy, if you get it…you REALLY get it.

    I’m really looking forward to seeing him this weekend!

  2. Just saw the Saturday 8pm set – brilliant. Andy Kindler is a master.
    Shame that Kirkland is full of meathead bros and people who wish this was a red-state.
