Today the president declined a request from Maryland’s congressional delegation to lower American flags to half mast in honor of the five victims of the Capital Gazette shooting, according to The Baltimore Sun. Not that mass murders need any more help slipping out of the news cycle these days, but a president actively shutting down an opportunity for the public to grieve the journalists who served them is a knife twist worth noting.
