Well, I’m glad someone’s laughing.

As Michael, our intern with a great cat, said this morning:

Audience at the United Nations General Assembly laughs at President Trump’s insane remarks: Can anyone figure out what he says after, “In less than two years, my administration has accomplished more than almost any administration in the history of our country”? It sounds like he says, “Ameriker’s so true.” Then everyone laughs at him.

It wasn’t all laffs. There were also threats. From CNN:

Trump made it clear he is happy to divide the world into nations he sees as his friends and those he sees as undeserving enemies: “We are taking a hard look at US foreign assistance … whether the countries who receive our dollars and protection also have our interests at heart. Moving forward, we are only going to give foreign aid to those who respect us and, frankly, are our friends.”

Trump says “it’s a no for me, dawg” a la Randy Jackson regarding potential Puerto Rico statehood. In reality, he said it was an “absolute no,” but imagine if he said it the Randy way. From Time:

“With the mayor of San Juan as bad as she is and as incompetent as she is, Puerto Rico shouldn’t be talking about statehood until they get some people that really know what they’re doing,” Trump said in an interview with Rivera’s show on Cleveland’s WTAM radio.

Ever the feminist, Trump went off on the women who have accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault. He called them a “con orchestrated by Democrats,” according to New York Magazine:

Trump repeated the “con” claim multiple times and grew angrier as he spoke. “Thirty-six years ago? Nobody ever knew about it? Nobody ever heard about it? And now a new charge comes up,” Trump said. He said to “take a look at the lawyers” who “are the same lawyers who have been fighting for years” and worried that no one will want to go before “this system” to be a judge or politician in the current environment.

Here’s Donald’s versions of events at the UN today. I particularly like the camera work. Very Blaire Witch:

Nathalie Graham covers anything she finds fun, weird, or interesting. You can find a lot of that in her column, Play Date. Her work has also appeared around town in The Seattle Times, GeekWire, and the...
