Tonight, we hand the sweaty mic over to your local celebrities. Expect to see Almost Live!‘s John Keister along with writers from both The Stranger AND the Weekly (!) tell stories, read their diaries, or talk about whatever the hell it was that made them famous. This is always one of the most fun nights of the festival. (Comedy Underground, 109 S Washington St, 628-0303. 8 pm, $5, all ages. This week’s Suggests have been sold for our Strangercrombie charity auction.)

I miss “Almost Live,” which was far funnier than SNL ever was. Still, with most of the cast pushing 40 on that show, you wonder how long they could have continued to reach their original 18 to 34 demographic.
Does anybody remember John Keister’s disastrous performance at the 1996 Gay Pride in Seattle? People were yelling for him to get off the stage, and he concluded his act by apologizing.
And finally, I LOVE sexy, funny Joel McHale, but “Community” is seriously not funny.
MAN! I’m sick of these lame-o suggestions!
I loved Almost Live. Good acting and great writing, and local humor made it especially funny. It’s too bad it couldn’t have continued, while bringing on new cast members, like SNL.
I remember seeing Bill Nye do stand-up at Jazz Alley in the early 80s, when it was on the Ave. That didn’t seem to be his forte for comedy because he bombed. I’ve seen Keister do stand-up a couple times, most recently a few years ago at a short-lived comedy club on 5th Ave downtown, and I’ve always enjoyed his stuff.
Almost Live was an abomination.
Where’s Kyle ?
@4: Jesus, what are you, new?
@6 I’ve been around long enough to recognize hackery when I see it.
