From the mouth of a kid who looked like he was nine years old, to his parents: “There’s too many ugly street performers here.”

Jesus. And people think I’m a bitchy critic…

Brend an Kiley has worked as a child actor in New Orleans, as a member of the junior press corps at the 1988 Republican National Convention, and, for one happy April, as a bootlegger’s assistant in Nicaragua....

  1. …And did the parents immediately tell the little brat not to talk that way because it’s rude?

No, they probably didn’t. He probably learned that from them.

  2. Brendan, I avoid the market during the summer months…I fucking HATE tourists. And you think the tourists bitching about the street performers are nasty, you should overhear them bitch about socialism while looking for public transportation to take them down to the stadium.

Though it’s funny seeing how much fatter the out of staters get every year.

  3. There was some controversy when the writers of Nickelodeon’s iCarly used trite homeless jokes for easy laughs. Haha Seattle has a homeless population. Fucking dicks at Nickelodeon.
Our Capitalist overlords know how important it is to keep all of us divided.
If you can’t see the humanity in others then it’s easier to enslave you and, also, the alienation from others you would have to overcome in trying to organize against the machine will be that much greater.

  4. In Manhattan yesterday, touristing.

    Amazing…haven’t been for years.

The entire place has re-Middle Classed. Formerly uninhabitable areas have indian buffet restaurants and joggers.

In a whole day I saw only one vagant…ONE! (Lying on subway platform at night). The streets were full of nice, “normal” people, the sort you’d see walking around Disneyland…which is what New York has aimed towards.

Times Square is competing with the Vegas Strip…all night outdoor fun with lots LED billboards that dwarf the Jumbotron.

New York is malling itself. Popular stores are Forever 21 and m*a*c. Telltale sign of change…along Public Library near 42nd at lunch time, office workers wait on long line that stretches outside for…Chipolte!! Yes, the same burrito that I drive to Kent Station to get is now a gourmet lunch in the Big Apple.

Go figure…Southcenter Mall is the model to which New York now ascribes. Seattle…think about it.

  5. And so do the black dudes singing “This Little Light ‘o Mine”

Ha, ha…. I’m on the record with several friends for hating them and that fucking song they have been singing in front of Starbucks for years.

  6. @12 Have you been to Manhattan recently? Wow, the big city! Fuck, every post you make has been “so, I was in Manhattan, and…” Take your stupid politics and fucking move there and leave us alone.
