Monologuist Mike Daisey’s early version of this show last summer was immediately electrifying. It follows the story of his trip to China, where—doing what he says leagues of journalists seemingly can’t—he parked himself outside the gates of a factory of 500,000 workers (where many had been throwing themselves to their deaths, so the company put nets on the buildings). Daisey—a tech geek and lifelong Apple lover—shook the hands that assemble the world’s iPhones, iPads, and iPods. He met outlaw unionizers with mangled limbs and workers with fused spines from 16-hour shifts. When he was done, I couldn’t look at my gleaming device anymore without seeing fingerprints crawling all over it. (Seattle Repertory Theatre, 155 Mercer St, 443-2222, 2 pm, $30–$60)

  1. I’ve seen this advertised. So it’s about Apple mainly? But the name is Steve Jobs in the title?

I’d really like to see “The Agony and Ecstasy of Dov Charney”. The hyper-egotistical scumbucket has even written the script on how he became such an admirable jackass.

  2. I just got a hold of someone at Gawker. That play about Dov Charney has already had its run. “The Ecstasy of Dov Charney” was the official title, and Dov’s lawyers have gotten together with the media and press, so you won’t have to hear about Dov’s extra-curricular activities anymore. Swept under the rug. We’re good. Just read his bio, smile, and say such a nice boy. OMG FUSED SPINES!!! BOLD THAT!!

I’d care more if the clothes weren’t stellar.
