If Halloween means more to you than bite-sized Twix and decorative gourds (both good), you're not alone. Seattle takes All Hallows' Eve very seriously, as displayed by the hundreds of freaky options on our Halloween calendar. To help you narrow down your plans, we've rounded up the biggest and best events to know about, from major parties where you can show off your costume (like FreakNight) to spooky performances (like Dracula) to family-friendly affairs (like the Museum of Fright). See them all below, and be sure to check out our guides to spooky movies playing in theaters, haunted houses, and pumpkin patches, too.

OCTOBER 23 & 25

Alice B. Toklas Dinner and Ghost Tour
Alice B. Toklas, who lived in Seattle during the 1890s and studied at the University of Washington, is believed to still haunt Seattle’s historic Hotel Sorrento, though it seems unlikely that any ghost would pick Seattle over Paris (where she spent most of her life). Also, she never stepped foot in the hotel (but she did live on First Hill). But her ghost is the fuel behind the hotel’s annual ghost tour, which is followed by a prix fixe French dinner and wine pairing inspired by The Alice B. Toklas Cook Book. No word* on whether its most famous recipe, Hashish Fudge (a very early edible, possibly the original source of pot brownies), will be served for dessert. DAVID LEWIS

Chances are probably 90 percent yes, and happily. Who knows?! I do know that there will be spooky drink specials, lots of popcorn, hilarious commentary, and a whole lotta butt. Full disclosure: Uh Oh daylights as Chase Burns, my Slog editor, but he doesn't know I'm writing this preview because I enjoyed myself so much at the last Be Kind, Rewind, so really the joke's on him. The Cabinet of Doctor Caligari
Removed as they are from the modern movie-going experience, silent movies possess a special kind of hypnotic otherworldliness—and few are stranger than Robert Wiene's 1919 Expressionist masterwork The Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, a tale of a malevolent fairground "doctor" and the unfortunate sleepwalker who murders at his command. Proud & Nasty
I know organ and keys wizard Michael Zabrek from his days way back in the ol’ FL of A, when he played in a heady Tampa Bay area jazz-funk band called Worldwide Zoo. More than a decade on, he’s settled in Seattle and has taken up with another fine band of a similar sonic persuasion, Proud & Nasty (with Adam Gross on drums, Scott Morning on trumpet, and Aaron Harmonsen on bass, plus select guests). They’ve been playing an ongoing Thursday night open jam at Sea Monster for a while now, during which attendees are invited to sign up and sit in on an improvised set. I’m told it’s a very good time. (Event-length YouTube videos confirm this.) This is a special Halloween costume party edition, and attendees are encouraged to dress up (there’s a costume contest and also a Silly String art contest?!) and come get down. LEILANI POLK
Sea Monster Lounge, Wallingford

Tacocat Halloween with DoNormaal and Sundae Crush!
Stranger music calendar editor Kim Selling has written, “It’s been pretty dark lately, huh? Weeks (months, years
) of deeply impactful, negative news plastered everywhere you look can really drag a person down. I think we all deserve to feel lighter, more mobile, more buoyed by the season. Tacocat can raise you to that level. I’ve been attending their shows for a decade now, and I can attest to the health benefits of witnessing their neon-candy punk-pop explode through an ecstatic crowd.” Join them, along with local power cuties DoNormaal and Sundae Crush for a wild night out, and don’t forget your costume—these bands will surely be decked out in some Technicolor fantasy looks.
Neumos, Capitol Hill

After all of that, keep the party going at the Ballroom with a "Troll-a-keg" provided by Fremont Brewing.

West Hall, Capitol Hill

QUEER

Cucci's Spooky Weed
Cucci Binaca, a mischievous ringleader in Seattle’s drag scene, is potty-mouthed, perpetually stoned, and the conservative right’s worst nightmare, which makes her a favorite here at The Stranger. In Cucci’s Spooky Weed, she invites drag performers to create numbers that are both spooky and stoned, and it’s a riot (sometimes literally). Get hella high before you go, and be prepared for performers who are more likely to spend their number bleeding onto a canvas than lip-synching to Britney Spears.
