Our arts critics have already recommended 49 awesome things to do this week, but there are lots more events happening. To save some of the out-of-the-box ones from slipping through the cracks, we’ve got the highlights here—from an adults’ Lego building night to an outdoor movie night (yes, in December) to an ugly sweater night with a Weezer cover band.
TUESDAY
Skål! Scandinavian Spirits Exhibit
This traveling exhibition will explore the history and significance of beer and aquavit in Denmark, Norway, and Sweden. You might be a pro drinker, but you could probably stand to learn a thing or two about these culturally specific traditions.

Legos and Libation
The Library teams up with Legos and Tin Dog for an adults’ playtime, where you can either participate in the Lego Building Challenge or “create free-form designs.”

It’s beer plus opera, which go together surprisingly well. You will get passionate.

Drunk Santas Christmas Party
Holiday beers get Santa all sorts of festive at Linda’s annual Drunk Santas Party.
THURSDAY
Campout Cinema: Gremlins
See a creepy, beloved tale about a pet gone wrong in this “Campout Cinema” presentation. You’ll watch Gremlins on the amazing SkyChurch EMP screen, and get free admission to Can’t Look Away: The Lure of Horror Film, the EMP exhibit currently displaying Gizmo the Mogwai (used in the film!) plus displays from other horror classics.
This Might Not Work…
The name of this lecture series at Photographic Center Northwest should be quirky enough to grab your interest.
Outdoor Movie Night: Love Actually
What’s weirder than an outdoor movie night in December? Thankfully, Peddler’s outdoor beer garden is covered, and you can cover yourself in a beer blanket.
The Twilight Zone: Live!
At The Twilight Zone: Live!, watch a young artist melt in her apartment as it flies towards the sun, bus passengers who realize the aliens they’re looking for might be alarming close to home, and a drunken dime store Santa.
FRIDAY
CANCELLED: Ugly Sweater Bowling Party
Wear your best ugly sweater for this quirky bowling night, when “some of Seattle’s best local bands” (TBA) will host bowling tournaments.
David Sedaris’ The Santaland Diaries
The Changing Scene Theatre Northwest presents Joe Mantello’s adaptation of the always-hilarious David Sedaris’ one-man holiday show that depicts a reluctant elf’s journey through “a maze of terrified children, outlandish holiday shoppers, and disheveled Santas.”
Electro Swing Circus
Circus, burlesque, and the wild, raucous tunes of Bucharest Drinking Team.
Bacon Strip: Christmas Gifts
A new Christmas show with all types of drag from Sylvia O’Stayformore. Each night features a different cast, so don’t be shy about showing up twice.
SATURDAY
Willy Wonka & the Chocolate Factory in Smell-O-Vision
Not all movies could pull off a smell-o-vision experience, but this is one that can.
Santa Claus Conquers the Martians Marathon
The EMP presents three back-to-back screenings of “one of the worst films ever made.” For free, of course.
Destroy My Sweater: Weezus & Goat Reward
Destroy all your ugly holiday sweaters with Weezer cover group extraordinaire Weezus. Plus, Weezer-themed holiday drink specials!
Brutalesque Holiday Onslaught
A holiday burlesque show featuring the incredible, holiday-themed works of metal acts like Maiden, Priest, Motorhead, and Venom.
Herb Cocktails Class
This 21+ event teaches participants how to create amazing cocktails from the herbs in their backyard.
SUNDAY
Make Your Own Terrarium Night
Here’s what the promoters say, if you’re into exclamation points: “We will cover the logistics and proper set up of your very own hanging or desktop terrariums! We have a variety of great plants, seeds, mosses, stones and decorations to choose from for your creation! Supplies will be included but if you have a special container or trinket you would like to use or share bring it along!”
Tibetan Sound Bath
Nothing to beat the stress of the holidays like a Tibetan Sound Bath. Lie on the floor while the soothing Tibetan singing bowls are placed and played on your body.
10th Annual All City Showdown
This all-ages event at Neumos will screen and judge the best kind of gritty, raw, and impressive footage of street skating, with “spots, cracks, rough ground, weather, security, pedestrians, cops, traffic and a time limit.”
