You’re probably well aware that Thursday, June 21 is the first day of summer. But did you know it’s also International Yoga Day? Below, we’ve rounded up all of this week’s special classes where you can breathe deeply, meditate, and stretch in as many poses as your heart desires. Most of them are at parks, bars, and other non-traditional spaces—like Yoga with Cats at Seattle Meowtropolitan, a booze-filled class at Copia Farms, or a free class at Ballard Commons Park—or otherwise are open to the public and have a special component, like We Yoga Co.‘s class benefiting Street Yoga.
THURSDAY
Green Lake Park
Join yoga instructor Jessica Lindmark on Thursday evenings for all-levels outdoor classes. Cellist Nicolas Coniaras will drop by on occasion to provide relaxing sounds.
7:15 pm, free/$14
Volunteer Park
Start your day in the lush Capitol Hill park taking a vinyasa- and anusara- focused yoga class.
8:30 am, free
THURSDAY, SATURDAY & SUNDAY
Seattle Meowtropolitan
The almost indecently charming Seattle Meowtropolitan lets you caffeinate while stroking, throwing toys for, or serving as a chair for a host of shelter kitties, many of whom are adoptable. Once in awhile, they up the ante by hosting Yoga with Cats, so you can contort your body into shapes that cats find interesting to climb on. To us, this sounds slightly discouraging—even the limberest yogin can’t match the whiplike flexibility of a cat spine. But needless to say, you should pounce on these tickets, because they will probably sell out soon after they’re put up.
8:30 pm on Thursday, 10 am on weekends, $20
SATURDAY
Ballard Commons Park
Take advantage of clear skies and take a free yoga class in the park.
10 am, free
Copia Farms
If stretching and booze-tasting are among your favorite activities, you’re in luck: For their first outdoor class of the season, Just Add Yoga will host a session on the grass at the Woodinville farm. Tickets include two tastings each of beer, cider, and wine from Fish Brewing, Silver Lake Winery, and Roza Hills Vineyard.
11 am, $20-$30
Elsom Cellars
Join the Emerald City Yogi for a yoga class, then enjoy a complimentary glass of wine (or soft drink).
10 am, $20
Limber Yoga
Sip offerings from Woodward Canyon Winery after a 75-minute summer solstice-themed vinyasa practice.
7 pm, $35
Studio Current
Spend Saturday afternoons working on breath work, movement, and meditation in an inclusive class with non-binary, “non-dogmatic” instructor Radiodog.
4 pm, $5-$10
We Yoga Co.
This power vinyasa class benefits Street Yoga, a nonprofit “dedicated to [building] capacity in youth through yoga and mindfulness to overcome suffering and cope with trauma.”
5:30 pm, $12
SUNDAY
Bad Jimmy’s Brewing Co.
The folks of Bendy Brewski Yoga will host five summer yoga classes at the Ballard brewery. After you’ve stretched and broken a sweat, you can reward your limber self with not one but two pints of beer.
10 am, $15/$20
Chihuly Garden and Glass
Instructors will lead this appropriate-for-all-levels yoga workshop inside the Glasshouse, “drawing inspiration from the creative environment.” (If you attend, prepare to return to a sparkling house with a big bowl of decorative lemons on the table, because now you officially have your shit together.)
7:15 am, $24
Olympic Sculpture Park
Wear your comfiest stretchy pants for a morning of yoga asana, pranayama, and guided meditation.
8:30 am, $10
Urban Sprouts
Fill a glass terrarium with plants and rocks, sip mimosas, and stretch your hard-working limbs in an all-levels yoga class.
10 am, $30
