It’s almost the weekend—do you know what you’re doing yet? If not, we’ve got you covered with this list of events under $10 that require almost no advance planning, like attending opening ceremonies for the Center for Architecture & Design and the Seattle Japanese Garden, eating delicious melted raclette at Culture Club Cheese Bar, and walking around Queen Anne and Hillman City while looking at art (or appreciating literature). See the full list below, and check out even more options for this weekend and into the future on our complete Things To Do calendar.

FRIDAY

2. Colleen McElroy
Colleen McElroy (poet, novelist, editor and longtime UW professor) will read from her newest work, Blood Memory. (Free, Capitol Hill)

3. Matt Ruff
Novelist Matt Ruff will read from Lovecraft Country, a story about Jim Crow America in the 1950s that blends the real-life horrors of racism with eerie science fiction. (Free, University District)
