An-My Lê was a refugee, but she never really escaped the
Vietnam War. She stands by the sidelines and photographs men who
reenact battles from Vietnam in the forests of Virginia. She
haunts an American military base where soldiers prepare to set out
for Iraq and Afghanistan. Only the lead-up and the look back are in
the frame. The real wars are left to the imagination. (Henry Art
