The photos are of the Precious Moments museum lighted fountain, and of Yakov Smirnov, a resident Branson performer. And if you haven’t looked at the Branson family vacation site paulus posted yesterday, you must.

  2. By the time I got to The 23rd Psalm As Rendered by Precious Moments I was ready to tear out my eyeballs.

    Jeeesus. That can’t be real.

  3. I have very fond memories of a trip to Branson during college with a friend. For a kid from a West Coast city who imagined herself a grunge-girl hipster, I thought I would hate it, but had a blast. We stayed in her step-grandmother’s trailer – which had just received indoor plumbing – in 1992. We visited Silver Dollar City, where there is a ride called “Fire in the Hole” and gorged ourselves on biscuits and apple butter.

But the long-lasting highlight was the couple in the car next to us on the way to dinner. The wife looked at a sign and announced with her Ozark drawl, “Look, Honey, Merle.” The husband, “I’ll tell you what.” End of conversation.

We spent the rest of the year saying “I’ll tell you what” to most everything. Gotta love Branson!

  4. I saw Ms. Rigby in Peter Pan when I was young, in the 1970s in Los Angeles. I believe she has made a career of the role.

  5. “Clicking on any of the underlined words on this page will take you to one of our Web pages.”

Also, how DARE they trash Andy Williams. Probably the only legit act in that entire precious shithole.

  6. I understand that Branson has another attraction not to be missed — Jim Bakker (Tammy Faye’s ex). He broadcasts a radio show from a station located on a 600 acre site reminiscent of the old Heritage USA religious theme park where he fleeced the sheep until the feds got him for fraud, the IRS got him for $6M, and Jerry Falwell proclaimed him evil.

  7. To all the comment posters – why not give Branson a visit.
