Since Seattle is the unofficial capital of all-demographic-encompassing stoners, of course we have a stacked calendar of events for the most illustrious botanical birthday to smoke out them all, 4/20. We know you’re too busy packing a bowl in preparation, so we’ve compiled them all here, starting with Kremwerk’s weed-centric Tainted Tales show this Saturday and ranging to the Goodship Academy of Higher Education lecture and a book release party for David Schmader’s marijuana guide next week. Or, if you’re feeling really ambitious, consider making the trip to Bellingham for a Snoop Dog concert or to Vancouver, which is having a huge party on 4/20 to celebrate. APRIL 16
The Green Show
Come to the Atlas Theatre in “high spirits” (no smoking or vaping allowed inside) to enjoy this 21+ improv comedy show by, about, and for people who are thoroughly stoned.
Hemp Jewelry Making
Hempfest Central will hand you hemp twine and free beads, then help you learn how to make a necklace, bracelet, anklet, zipper pull, or key chain.
Tainted Tales: Reefer Fever
The Haus of Keebler is bringing back their successful Tainted Tales series with a whole night dedicated to the sweet green. Expect weed puns, liberal fog machine usage, hosting magnificence by Shelita Potroast and Abbey Roads, and performances by Akasha Manila, Veronica Electronica, Stacy Starstruck, Apollo Vedra, Lucy Paradisco, Butch Alice, Betty Wetter, and Hellen Tragedy.
APRIL 17
DOPE Cup 2016
DOPE Cup 2016 pits vendors of marijuana-centered goods in a competition for, you guessed it, the DOPE Cup. Today, they promise an award ceremony, live music, food, and vendors.
APRIL 20
420Fest
Enjoy food, fun, and music at this 420 celebration benefiting incarcerated victims of the drug war. You can make some help jewelry and participate in “the usual merriment” in honor of this springtime pot holiday.
4/20 Fashion Week
Lady Scribe hosts this launch party for Legal Stoner’s official clothing line, featuring music by dj RAF and performances by artists including Ray Sav, Fred Deez, Bruce G, Common Tratez, and Tazzy. To round out the “fashion week” experience, there will also be a networking event on April 19, and an after-party hot box session on a party bus.
4/20 Pizza ‘n’ Pot Extravaganza
Celebrate at Fremont’s Pot Stop with discounted pot and special giveaways (all day) and Delfino’s pizza from 4-8 pm.
4/20 Pop-Up Party
Get real vibey at Prism this 4/20, with sale specials all afternoon from Botanica, Stash Pot Shop, and Van Der Pop, a showcase of ceramic smoking devices, and a raffle for pot-related prizes.
4/20 Scavenger Hunt
Dockside Sodo is hosting a 4/20 scavenger hunt, “high-ly” recommended by Tobias Coughlin-Bogue. Pick up your check list, then venture around Seattle in an effort to win a brand new PAX 2. The winner will be announced at Hooverville Bar at 7 pm, after the results are tallied. If you don’t win the PAX, don’t despair—they’ll also be giving away a virtual reality headset, a drone, a bluetooth speaker, and tons of grinders, papers, slimline vapes, and other paraphernalia, in addition to 4/20 sales at Dockside all day.
4/20 Sex Pot Show
True debauchery reigns at the 4/20 Sex Pot Show, led by Witch Ripper, Trannysaurus Rox, Sioux City Pete and the Beggars, and freak dumpster queen above all, Jackie Hell. Expect sludge metal, thrash punk, and sexually explicit weed-inspired performances by cast members of the Bong Show.
4/20 Trip
Jeff Nickels and Cory Guebels, directed by Alan Hawkins, will perform this stoner comedy show in honor of 4/20.
Cucci’s Spooky Weed
This 4/20 show at Kremwerk promises spooky, stone-y, drag queen fun hosted by Cucci Binaca, with performances by Arson Nicki, Cherry Markos, Cucci Binaca, Cookie Couture, La Saveona Hunt, and Miss Americano.
The Dope Show
Tyler Smith presents The Dope Show, which offers two performances by a lineup of comedians: one delivered sober, then another delivered several (smoky) minutes later, totally baked.
The Goodship Academy of Higher Education: Perception, Free Will and The Energy Matrix with Megan Carroll
The Goodship Academy of Higher Education is an insanely popular lecture series that invites participants and audience members alike to “pre-board” (toke up beforehand,) sparking a stoned, rambling, and amazingly entertaining evening of musing about life. This time, they’re featuring Megan Carroll (psychic, energy healer, and yoga teacher) who will speak about “the nature of reality, psychic phenomena and the power of perception.”
Hashtag One Year Cannaversary and 4/20 Party
The recreational shop is celebrating its first anniversary as well as one of our favorite holidays, 4/20. There will be party surprises, giveaways, and music, courtesy of Zach Deputy and Scott Pemberton.
Leafly Presents: A Night of Higher Entertainment
On 4/20, pay $4.20 to hear the lovely David Schmader, former Stranger writer and author of Weed: The User’s Guide: A 21st Century Handbook for Enjoying Marijuana, read from his new book—then, enjoy captivating collage art by Collide-O-Scope on the big screen at the Egyptian. If that’s not enough, look forward to special guests and cannabis-friendly gift giveaways. For even more Schmader, check out his book talk on Friday at Town Hall, which will feature KEXP DJ Riz Rollins, cartoonist Ellen Forney, writer Sarah Galvin, Seattle City Council Member Nick Licata, and our own Dan Savage.
Puget Soundtrack: Corespondents present House
Puget Soundtrack, presented by Northwest Film Forum, invites musicians to create a live score for a film of their own choosing. This time, instrumental band Corespondents will perform an original soundtrack to the psychedelic 1977 Japanese horror movie House.
Uncle Ike’s 4/20 Party
Celebrate 4/20 by heading down to Uncle Ike’s Glass & Goods for entertainment including live glass blowing—plus freebies, raffles, prizes, and flash sales.
Wolfpack Collective Presents a Very Straight Edge 4/20 Party
Get heavy with the straight edge stoners of Tacoma at the 4/20 party at Real Art, featuring the no coast hardcore tones of Comeback Kid, Culture Abuse, To The Wind, Erode, and Blunt Force (apparently Tacoma’s #2 pot-farming band).
