  1. It’s not Slog’s fault, sadly. My sources tell me CoverItLive is having issues everywhere. Man, these guys have one thing to get right: liveblogs. Yet, they manage to screw it up.

    Sound familiar?

  2. “Toxic problem on Main Street that’s affecting Wall Street”

Summed up the hard right republican stance quite well, didn’t she?

Those damn minority borrowers ruined the entire economy, don cha know?

  3. Tech-wise, is the LiveSlog thing going to be fixed? Or should I stop refreshing every couple of minutes to see if the series of tubes will let me in?

  4. Compare how many specifics Biden uses versus Palin. Palin can’t memorize what Biden knows through practice. She only has generalities and catchphrases.

  5. How can you not want to acknowledge manmade effects on the earth and want to fix it at the same time? It’s fucking impossible! WTF does that mean!

  6. @58 If only there was a way to force her back on topic – I dunno if most viewers are noticing that she isn’t answering most the questions. When interviewers point that out to her, that’s when she does her “moose in the headlights” look. precious.

  7. @41

No. Because we know what our country actually thinks. The real dirt. Down to the bone. We know that we can still lose. Being in this room, right now, with all of these fucking people, is freaking me out. Because we all already thought that we had this years ago. We didn’t. And here I am, seeing these, literally, “All American” people, completely ignoring everything that’s being said. “Tens of thousands of jobs” -Palin (*Claps*). This is insane. They have no care of what is being discussed. It’s their side and their side only. They have literally no fear of losing office. It feels, to me, that this entire room believes they’ve already sealed the deal.

On our hand, or at least mine, I’m watching Palin, listening to Palin, thinking about not how retarded she is, because she isn’t being retarded right now. She’s saying everything she needs to be saying right now to get those Bush voters in her hands. It’s freaky. I can’t even be comical about this now that the debate has started.

And holy shit. It never stops. “Hundreds of trillions.”-Palin. (*Yeah!*)

  8. @71 Agree… Palin’s performance so far is exactly the kind of thing that Bush voters will go for. It shows the weakness of this debate format: Katie Couric made Palin look retarded because she was able to press for details; in this debate, the vague feel-good things that Palin says are allowed to stand unchallenged.

    Barf.

  9. i REALLY wish biden would ask her a direct follow up question afer she’s spewed one of her rehearsed answers. I’m sure she would completely freeze. Not part of the debate format, I know, but it would be very effective.

  10. nucular? i hate her. She can’t answer questions, she has to look at her notes and she can only talk about what she has written.

  11. Ah, good.. now she’s looking like an idiot. Or a parrot, repeating things without understanding them. How many times did she just say Iran shouldn’t get “nucular” weapons?

  12. [@ the Conservative Party & Fuck Capacity & shitty WiFi connections]

Palin is winning. Non-stop. She could pull out a bloody tampon like L7 and she’d still be winning here. In this room. Just an FYI. Word.

  13. Who taught this woman to pronounce the names of world leaders? I’m willing to bet it was the same dude who tutored Bush. Kim Jon Hill?

  14. Right here:

Biden: “Governor, you just said that I supported McCain’s plan for Iraq over Obama’s. I have no idea what you’re talking about. Please clarify.”

    Palin: “Duhhh.”

Why won’t he do something like this???

  15. I am about ready to wish McCain and Palin win; those are the leaders that America with it’s “Joe Six Packs” Hockey mom and pit bull owner deserve.

The rest of us, time to get the hell out of here.

  16. I have come to the conclusion that mispronunciations are actually calculated appeals to the doofi. How hard is it to get it right?

Say “new.” Say “clear.” Say “new-clear.”

    Say “ear-on.” Say “ear-ock.”

  17. “Wasilla main street?” Seriously, does anyone want someone this folksy in office? Jesus, she takes GWB’s bullshit folksiness and turns it up like a thousand times. She just said “now doggone it.” WTF???

  18. Palin: I stand for equal rights, as does McCain, but we don’t take action on them.

Please make a note of it. This room sure did.

  19. Gah. I got kicked from the widget. There’s hella people in there. Is this a case of rubbernecking, or what? Expecting a train wreck? I don’t remember this happening last week.
