Not that Twitter or Youtube commentary have ever been a measure of anything consequential, but the trend I’m seeing is to take mentions of a pair of books in this youtube profile- The Communist Manifesto and Mein Kampf (because Hitler was a socialist, apparently) and fix this tragedy on the Left.

But…I will say that I do hate the phrase “guns don’t kill people, people kill people.” True, but, guns make it way too easy and enable it to be done on a mass scale. Basically, all one needs to kill somone is to point at them and push a button (pull a trigger, same thing). All those with zero power need is a gun which gives them God-like power at a given moment. The problem is…the genie is out of the bottle. To ban guns would only make those that don’t have them at the mercy of those who will get them anyways.

You cannot apologize for anyone’s actions but your own. This guy didn’t believe in God, was angry at the so called “ratifications” to the constitution, he burns the flag on the video because he doesn’t think the flag is valid, since the Constitution never mentions having one. He also read communist literature, which is hardly conservative reading! The man was obviously disturbed. He, and he alone caused todays actions. I will now finish renewing my soon to be expired, NRA membership.

PS to Dave: I appreciate your polite debate and I do understand why you feel the way you do. I do not agree. I have known more people killed in car accidents, another lethal weapon, then by a gun. Four weeks ago, two men attempted to break into my home while I was home with my husband!! I came to the door thinking it was a neighbor and they were high as kites and I took them by surprise by pulling my .45 out of my panty and scaring them off. Never even had to shoot it and it saved the day…maybe even our lives! Our second amendment is so important to Americans…

…like I said…I wish guns had never been invented in the first place. But even if every gun were confiscated, melted down, etc.– the technology behind them is so basic, so rudimentary– that those bent on using them for criminal purposes will always be able to find them (via black markets, organized crime, or simple street corner dealers, etc.)or, for that matter, make them for themselves. Drugs are illegal. Has drug use declined?
Plus there would need to be a global ban because otherwise, foreign makes would only make their way into this country in record numbers.
