I just had to pee standing up.
I took a dump and had to flush twice to get it to go down
#1, that’s sex not gender, and you don’t have to pee standing up. bathroom segregation is pretty dumb and i can’t believe it’s still around. it’s probably not one of the most harmful forms of puritan gender enforcement, but it is one of the most flagrant.
http://www.safe2pee.org/beta/mapit.php?c…
I got up, looked at my male body in the mirror and sighed sadly like I do every morning.
Not having any experience as another gender, I’m not sure I can tell.
@2 what?
@3 yes, my sex makes it so I can pee standing up, but my gender identification, along with the segregated bathroom, made it so i had to pee standing up, as the urinal was my only option.
ugh trick question
next to the rest of the wheatpastes up and down the street, this looks lazy. this young woman’s message would come across a little more clearly if she had put some more work into it, instead of choosing the most cliche statements “no one is ever asking for it” “this insults women” etc. she picked the largest font on Microsoft Word and then stapled them up and down 11th Ave. instead of coming off as insightful or inquisitive about gender, it really just makes me upset that you didn’t try harder.
@3 Your list fails to mention the Galway Arms in the U-District – all the dudes shit in the ladies room because the men’s toilet is gross.
@6, where were you that had only urinals, no stalls?
Me, I just check my congratulatory email from The Patriarchy every morning, like usual. It has today’s instructions on how to be patronizing to the secretaries in new and exciting ways.
My big rack+cheap bras=disaster. Also: vaginal discharge.
Gender Affected is an anagram for Deranged Effect.
@10 Fnarf, sometimes you are beyond awesome!
Two words: morning wood
I have spent time today both listening to Duran Duran and saying that I would enjoy being a masseuse for a professional soccer team, even if they didn’t shave their legs.
I’m not sure that narrows down my gender, though.
@10 the one stall was just occupied.
not that I would have peed sitting down, it’s much more convenient standing up!
why am I still talking about this?
I used to get the same email, but got taken off the list for fagging out.
I was given tepid coffee– a suitably mute protest from the female underclass. I promise, one of these days science will free us from these squawking albatrosses that hang from our necks.
Hey, Fnarf, do you get bonus checks in the mail from the Patriarchy, or did you go for the second option where we pay less for underwear, tailors, and drycleaning?
I got a promotion!
#8, good work demonstrating your masculine need to dominate and show your expertise in the one true way of how to make a flyer.
here’s an excellent short, lighthearted youtube on male privilege from an mtf and an ftm: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgpSiBEZE…
My gender has not effected me today. We’ll be having a talk about it Friday morning. However I caught my gender screwing around with a guy last week, so I’m wondering what’s really going on.
I’m scratching my balls.
I got paid 30% less than my male co-workers.
I had to be a dick back to someone who was being a dick to me.
Umm… let’s see. I talked to my IL State Farm agent about changing agents once I move to Oregon and he said “I’ll just look at the list of agents out there and pick the most attractive man for you”. Followed by my silence. Followed by him saying “…. or woman!”.
But, other than that awkwardness, surprisingly not very much today.
profuse vaginal bleeding. yays!!
I assumed my regular position as “In Charge” and had an underling clean the glass ceiling for 2/3 what anyone (read: guy) else would do it for.
My cock makes me be glad I’m not some douchey Seattle liberal.
#20, i’m actually supportive of queer and LGBT rights, and I am a guy. Sometimes the people that are most supportive of minority rights and marginal issues, do benefit from male privilege. so let’s refrain from personal attacks here.
what I mean to ask, does the vitriolic language of the person who posted these actually inspire people to stop and think, or does it actually do more to incur wrath, and reinforce the negative association of ‘queer’ and ‘feminist’? From the anonymous comments above, it looks like the latter. We should all try to be open-minded, yes, but let’s not take this militant angle because it doesn’t seem to work.
@boxofbirds:
Dude, I almost spit green tea all over my screen, LOL.
@Fnarf: We get emails too, but their generally more rants about periods, how expensive shoes are, and how our mothers drive us crazy. Then there is some chatting about not being ‘feminist enough’, some crying, and then us checking our weight.
Then ECB generally stabs herself in the face.
I was cheery at my waitressing job, and deferential to the bartenders (who are all boys!).
I got a haircut that didn’t cost me half a paycheck. Yay boyhair.
As a divorced single mom and thus, the default custodial parent, I got up at 5 to take my daughter to her ice skating lesson before work. I got to work half an hour early so I could take my son to the dentist during lunch. After work, I will take my son to his class, where I will workout in a vain attempt to boost my stubborn female metabolism. After that, I will pick up french bread at the store, come home and cook dinner for the kids and boyfriend, and afterwards, do laundry and try to finish the needlepoint stocking I committed to making for my nephew.
Other than working harder than my male colleagues in an attempt to be as respected as they are in my male-dominated profession, I think that’s all of the ways my gender affects me today.
it made me check out a female coworker’s hot ass about 3 times. it never gets old.
Tampons
I shaved my balls!
I quit my job because my boss hit on me
Personally, I consider myself more of a scientist than a woman. Over the past several years, I’ve been pleased to find that, in academia, people seem to care more about your ideas and your work than your gender and what you look like.
I don’t miss you, real world!
I’m not seeing exactly what’s vitriolic about “how has your gender affected you today?” At least he or she got the affect/effect verb correct, which is more than I can say for a few of you.
Negative: I’m having my period.
Positive: I’m having my period.
I just asked my spouse. His answer:
“I helped a little old lady carry three heavy boxes, partly because she’s a little old lady. And partly because five stocky, empty-handed females nearby glared pointedly at me until I noticed her.”
Three cheers: I will NEVER have “my period”
Flushing tampons can be risky: I will never have to flush a tampon of my own.
My girlfriend insisted on carrying my coat today. Said if I always did it, then that would make her “the girl.”
I have never thought of myself as a girl before.
I got up at 3:30 AM to pee, but that’s more my age than my gender.
The underwire stabbed my boob all day. The good news is, I thought I was having a heart attack; turns out it was only a metal wire stabbing my chest!
@42. A few more years, after I hit menopause, I’ll be able to say the same (adding “again” to your statements, of course). But I’ll still get to enjoy my clit and boobies! Yay for being a girl!
The internet keeps telling me my penis could be bigger.
I’ve never had a woodie! lol
How do males walk around with those things anyway?
And is this a sex or gender thing? I’m probably answering wrong.
#48
yes it is difficult to keep my big hard woodie in my pants
woodie, are you all in the mid west – my dick is the term
#48
just a quick note to someone who is not very male informed
there is nothing sexier that any guy in the buff, hard to the max moving around – his dick sways and moves a bit on its own, or a lot depending, and it just is the best horn dog hot turn on
right, gay boys? likes cock ladies?
