  1. @1: Not all the blame belongs to the author; there are many broken sarcasm meters in the general population. The question is, do we care about their opinion?

  2. There was already old and mostly unused punctuation to mark irony and sarcasm, what’s the point of inventing a new method rather than promoting the old one?

  3. Ugh. No. Learn to write. You don’t get to invent a whole new set of characters because you can’t convey your point effectively. I often leave question marks off of common rhetorical questions (“Who knows.” “Who cares.” etc.), and there’s no way I’ll support this lazy crap. No.

    This idea has been around for as long as there’s been message boards and email and the answer is always the same; if you think this is needed you’re too shitty at using sarcasm and should probably stop.
