  2. As I have never seen Showboat, for a few minutes I was very very disturbed. I kept waiting for her to burst into “Don’t Tell Mama”. Bleh!

  5. David—it was a one-night-only show with minimal rehearsal. And the chorus is supposed to be raucous and slovenly. The “off” singing totally works here.

    Sheesh!

    Thank you for you coverige on prsedential elections. We celebrate in Argentina all times. Spectacle are great event in our Society. You have great people in US. A band name REM comes to Buenos Aries last week and my frind and I go. We go and drink wine and shout because great spectacle. My frind is great REM fan and shouts to them Mr Richards! Mr Richards! because song is about famous race hater Michael Richards.

    The US has many problems. We love you all the time and but is good to question spokesmen. Argentines are happy that you know one our famous spokesman, the writer Jose Luis Borges. He is hard to figure when in translation but has very many books about life. A story is The Gospel According to St Mark (aka Eli 😉 which is worth a read, Sshort story. Thank you for the blogs and websites of the US to report news.

    thanks for the emails last year and thoughful phone call. good decision to not accept my “application” for Art Intern. the counsel to either volunteer or something else you said were appreciated. i’m in small town, practically rural, america now. I’ve volunterred to run (away from a) photoshop skills workshop. plans are also underway to bein my MFA come Fall 2009. perhaps we’ll get back in touch 2010-ish? or come work for our local newspaper. the field reports from Montana and the like that you’ve done, i think, fall on deaf ears for the most part. Seattle is entranced with YouTube as the preferred art medium. My MFA idea/proposal hinges on textiles, something akin to quilting. i think it’s a more beautiful way to demonstrate, thus “find” a cure for diseases on the Washington D.C. grassy Mall.

    p.s. small time hospitality has granted me two hours of comp time to go the polls, hence my early lunch post. work is almost completely boring (physically close to factory warehouse work) so this is very sweet.

  11. Anna Kendricks is fantastic. The first time I remember seeing her was as the All About Eve character in the movie “Camp” where she belted out a frighteningly effective rendition of “Here’s To The Ladies Who Lunch”.

    Give her time. She’s the next Kristin Chenowith. At 23 she’s got lots of time to grow into superstardom, but it can’t happen soon enough.
