Little Oddfellows: Filling the coffee and pastry void inside of Elliott Bay Book Company. The Derschang Group

If you’re looking for a new place to try this weekend, things don’t get any fresher than Orfeo and Little Oddfellows, which will both be opening their doors tomorrow, Saturday, August 1.

•Orfeo, from Kevin and Terresa Davis (Steelhead Diner, Blueacre Seafood), will be open for dinner in Belltown. While the Davis’s are known for their seafood-focused restaurants, with Orfeo they’re turning their attention toward classic Italian and French preparations of Northwest meats that are roasted in a custom charcoal-burning Woodstone Josper oven. They’ll also have a wood-fired brick oven for pizzas, and a selection of housemade pastas.

• Restaurant and nightlife maven Linda Derschang (Linda’s, King’s Hardware, Smith, Tallulah’s) has taken over the space inside Elliott Bay Book Company that was once the Elliott Bay Cafe. An offshoot of her nearby and popular restaurant Oddfellows, Little Oddfellows will serve baked goods and desserts, coffee and espresso from Caffe Vita, sandwiches, grain salads, housemade juices and scratch sodas, as well as beer and wine.

Hommage to Close on August 15
Eater Seattle reports that after only ten months, Hommage, the high-end restaurant that sits along the waterfront of the Fremont Cut and began its life as the well-received Book Bindery, will close on August 15. The closure comes just ten months after the restaurant’s owners, Sumi and Mike Almquist, opened the rebranded restaurant under French chef Nico Borzee (Artusi, San Francisco’s Coi, and Michelin-starred restaurants in France).

Macleod’s Fish and Chips Coming to Ballard in August
Another August restaurant opening to add to the list: Macleod’s Fish & Chips, from the owners of Macleod’s Scottish Pub (two of the owners, James Weimann and Deming Maclise, also own Ballard’s Bastille Cafe and Bar and Stoneburner, as well as Capitol Hill’s Poquitos and Rhein Haus). According to a press release, MacLeod’s Fish & Chips will serve certified sustainable, long-line-caught wild Pacific cod with organic, hand-cut Russet potatoes, along with fried salmon and halibut. MacLeod’s plans to open its doors by August 15.
