Facing pressure from social networks and the American-Arab Anti-Discrimination Committee, massive retailer Walmart has pulled from its shelves the “Sheik/Fagin” mask featuring a caricatured big nose that many people think fosters derogatory attitudes toward Arabs and Jews. This is the same item that global Seattle rap star Macklemore wore in a 2014 performance at EMP, which triggered widespread outrage and accusations of anti-Semitism. Macklemore (aka Ben Haggerty) eventually apologized for any offense he caused.

Not only is the prosthetic nose being yanked from Walmart, but the Burbank, California, company that manufactures it, Cinema Secrets, is ceasing production of it, according to a New York Times interview with CEO Michael Stein.

Good riddance to bad fake proboscises.
