In Libya: Gaddafi’s forces have been accused by a human rights watchdog group of using cluster bombs, which are banned by over 100 countries, BBC reports.

In California: A bill passed by the state senate would add gay history curriculum to public schools.

In which the South cannot catch a break from weather systems: A cluster of storms and tornadoes caused damage and states of emergency declarations when it hit Mississippi and Alabama before heading to Georgia yesterday.

…Part 2: In Texas, firefighters are still responding to fires across the state that destroyed at least 60 homes yesterday and burned across about 655 square miles, according to the Texas Forest Service.

Today, in needing new PR: SPD is fighting a $70,000 fine for not releasing documents to a lawyer representing Evan Sargent, the 19-year-old who says he was threatened by an off-duty officer in 2009.

Today, in manipulating variables: Emails uncovered through the Freedom of Information Act show that BP officials tried to control scientific research on the consequences of last summer’s oil spill.

“The Path to Prosperity” (whose prosperity remains unclear): How Paul Ryan describes the budget, approved yesterday by the House, that would cut $4.4 trillion from the nation’s deficit over the next decade by screwing over people on Medicare.

I don’t know about you, but I like snarky Obama: A sneaky reporter at CBS eavesdropped on Obama’s conversation with donors, and now people are freaking out because the president wishes he had a cooler phone. Un-American!

Finally, in honor of Obama’s newly-discovered (albeit probably temporary, poorly-placed) moxie, here is a video of the honey badger, who has no regard for any other animal whatsoever. Honey badger don’t care. Good morning!

  1. Geez. The honey badger was “old news” when you guys posted it a month ago. Pay attention.

And I’m sure the feds could spring for a BlackBerry Torch for Obama. I just upgraded to one a week ago, and despite the mediocre reviews, I’m actually kinda liking it.

  2. Can you ever have enough honey in your badger?

It’s clear that god is punishing the South for its opposition to birth control. Yay, god!

  3. Obama’s moxie is the McRib of politics: “for a limited time only”.

But the Repug budget (and Medicare elimination plan) is also like the McRib in that it’s pork (for billionaires) smothered in an opaque, overly-sweet sauce concealing the ugly substance beneath. Even a honey badger would gag on it.

  4. I dunno, 5280, after watching that video I’m pretty impressed with honey’s badassedness. I’d be proud to be nominated “most-likely-to-be-only-nominally-dissuaded-by-cobra-venom.”

  5. Honeybadger don’t have no opposable thumbs, so he’s lucky if he’ll get off a shot with the one he’s carrying, but you, 5280? I am well aware you travel with a mobile paramiltary arsenal, just in case Urgutha gets outta line at SlogHappy West. 🙂

  6. I love it! 5280 as honeybadger. “Evidence climate change caused by mankind’s actions? Honeybadger don’t give a shit. Barack Obama proven to have birth certificate from Hawaii? Honeybadger don’t give a fuck. Honeybadger makin’ his own shells.”

  7. That honey badger badger video was hilarious. Thanks.

I loved the constant “oooh, that’s disgusting” refrain. If that guy narrated PBS’s Nature programs, they’d sure be a lot more entertaining.

  8. Canuck @13,

It’s not even 5280’s guns I would worry about at SLOG happy west (SLOG central?), it’s the knives!

Yeah, if we were ever invaded by aliens or zombies or something, I know the very first person I would call.

  9. That bastard Gaddafi. I’ll bet his cluster bombs are several times nastier than American cluster bombs and Israeli cluster bombs!
